Great, actually. Qualified 43rd out of 56, worked up to 25th before a crash after 5 hours of the race dropped us down to last, and damaged a rider...then finished 30th with only two riders doing the last 18 hours, and only Ducati in the field.
Absolutely no mechanical problems at all, only a broken rear header (Akrapovic, supplied by Ducati but an older model 0.8mm thick, not the newer headers which are 1.4mm, sadly) and a few electrical gremlins caused by a loose cell in the battery after the crash.
The bike was clocked at 320kph down the straight, faster than the factory Suzuki, and only beaten by the YART Yamaha and the semi-factory BMW's (none of which finished), and was about equal with the Kawasakis and other Yamahas.
It was pretty awesome.
CCS/ASRA Race of Champions @ Daytona got off to a good start. I was dropping my times during practice from previous event in March on my Gsxr 750 until the ECU fried. Took me out of 2 of the races I signed up for ( Heavyweight Superbike, and Suspersport). Sunday race was my last one in SuperTwins. This stock Ducati 1199s ran like a missile. took the lead coming out of the international horseshoe in lap 1 and held it. Won a National title; Amateur SuperTwins National Champion. lots of fun. cant wait to go back in March. we're putting a team together for the Daytona 200.
