Racing Suits - Questions

Dainese boots are really more for their suits. Most boots go over the bottom of the suit, but dainese prefers for their boots to go under - and they have velcro inside that attaches to the sides of the boot. You can use them with other suits as well, but thats the way they prefer. The boot in boot that some manufacturers use is just a protective sleeve. You don't /need/ anything - its a matter of what you have when the crap hits the fan. . You don't need a back protector, but it makes sense as its just a marginal increase. You don't /need/ carbon fiber inner boots unless you come across a situation where something is trying to torque you're leg. . you don't /need/ a helmet unless you were going to hit your head. etc. You get the point.

If you wen't all out, you'd be in a titanium knights armor and barely be able to ride. So its all a compromise of functionality (and price).. .

Getting back to your dainese inner boot - yeah, its carbon inner boot on a rotating hinge (for your ankle). It's a decent boot that I actually use for street riding as its pretty comfortable.

Thanks for the advice. I think you're right, Im going to call up Tony Stark and order an Iron Man suit. I hope he can do black though ;)

daytona puts are head and shoulders better than the dainese boots but very pricey. I've had a couple pair and love em, very comfortable to not only ride in but also walk around in.

+1 on frosty's recommendation on an undersuit

It's a bitch to get out of leathers on a warm/hot day at the track, these make it much easier.

So Im nearing my decision I think, at least somewhat closer.

As far as boots go, it looks like Sidi's high end offerings are for off road.

Do I really need the $500 Dainese "boot inside" boots, or will their $300 option work for me? Whats the scoop here?

will agree with zvez. Dayton Security Evo's are hands down, probably the best race boot out there. It's what I use on the track. Didn't want to go there as most would find these way out of their price range. Their next level down is decent and replaces carbon fiber with something a bit less. I use the dainese axial pro's for street riding.

WOW way out of my league but i guess you get what you pay for looks like a great boot.

just a word on undersuits. i see A* and other brand names have these in the 100 range. here is what i did. i went to eastbay.com and bought the eastbay compression summer top and bottom. Same thing as underarmor that i wear for football. They have them for summer temps and winter temps. eastbay had a sale i bought the set for like 30 bucks. same thing same feel same function for a fraction of the price.

if you go to eastbay just search for football.

WTF, those are expensive lol. I don't see why something with such a retro look is so much and too boot (har har) no one uses these really in GP or AMA. Mostly in European racing.

Well this is what I ended up getting. I went 2-piece so I could mix and match, as well as get a new leather jacket for the street.

Jacket - Black
Dainese - G. SPEED NAKED PELLE - Motorbike - America - Inglese

Pants
Dainese - DELTA PRO PELLE ESTIVO - Motorbike - America - Inglese

Boots
Dainese - AXIAL PRO IN - Motorbike - America - Inglese

Gloves
Dainese - DRUIDS ST - Motorbike - America - Inglese

Back Protector
Dainese - WAVE AIR - Motorbike - America - Inglese

I hope I did well. I know the jacket and pants dont match but I love the vintage look of the jacket, as well as the pure black.

well thats pretty good stuff. though I'd commend on a few things. I believe most of the Dainese jackets will accommodate a back protector in there. It's up to you whether you want to use the insert back protector vs a separate one. The separate one is a bit longer and affords you a bit more protection but its a pain if you're stopping somewhere. Then again - so is wearing the Delta pro with the knee pucks.. . Axial pro's are easy and comfortable to walk around in. Make sure you avoid the torques which is a different and less comfortable boot.

Also, Forcefield (and a few others like tryonic, knox, etc) make what I would consider a better back protector. Forcefield also makes an insert that fits dainese jackets as well. So that is also a possibility for you. As you can tell - I'm not a fan of dainese back protectors.

Thanks. The boots are very nice.

The back protector I bought is a separate one, as you can see. I dont know how much I believe in the ones you just zip into the back of the jackets - they seem to flap around in there. I could use it for the street, but the one I bought will be used on the track as well as on weekend rides through the twisties.

Great, I just finally bought one last week for my Ducati Corse (Dainese) jacket.

I bought a BEHRIK 1 peice i had purchased a Dianesse(excuse the spelling)

im 6'1 and found the 54 dainesse was a ball squasher but he 56 was to large.
The BEHRIK allthough probably not as good was just more comfortable and cost less than my Lid to by.
