I've been following SSTK closely today I live timing. The R1M seems to be quite a package. Not a lot of data but they seem to be quick. What's nice is that there is 4 manufacturers in the top 4 positions.

However, to see the R1M so fast so quickly with no team data world wide is impressive!

it will take some time to get the bikes completly sorted as there are few aftermarket parts and not alot of expertise on working with this new design.

I'm pumped for the SSTK1000 season. Barrier was in P2 the first time he had been on the R1, the Aprilia came out of nowhere for a P1. When in previous years they were thought of as a total dog in SSTK trim. The Panigale close by in 3rd with the top trap speeds.

I feel the Panigale is at its development limit and it seems like the riders are always over the limit. The fact that the most immature squads are that was quick off th bat, make me wonder if ducati may ask Gigi to look over the other side of the development house.

I think Gigi will definitely have a hand in the next evolution of the Ducati superbike. But he's going to have his hands full with GP for another couple years IMHO.

Yamaha definitely isn't messing around though. They signed Barrier the second he got let go from his BMW squad. Aprilia has made several public statements that their intent is to win the SSTK crown as well. I dig that manufactures are taking the support class so seriously now.

i will be disappointed if the next Duc is not a V4 TFSI superquadrattosedici with frameless steel trellis frames

With Magnetorheological fluid in the frame, so it can be softened and stiffened on a per corner basis.

I actually have a snowboard that does something like this. Although it's based on a system that uses fibers embedded in the board that react to electrical pulses as a result of vibrations etc from the movement of riding.

Looks like a few resistors and some fabric to me.

Days before his death Dane Westby and I were talking via a cell call about the upcoming season and how well he thought he was going to do on the new R1, He went on and on about how absolutely unreal it was and felt while he rode it down at COTA. According to Dane is is night and day from the old one to him anyway and I am now anxious to see Josh Hayes rip the pack to shreds on his!

I seriously miss my buddy Dane, as will many folks this year within the AMA! Rest peaceful my friend. I;m sure they have ANY bike you want in heaven brother! :)

The more the merrier in SSTK. Nothing like a good battle for one to be crowned victorious! In the end I don't care who wins as long as it's a good battle with plenty of riders and manufacturers in the mix. One team domination blows to watch...

This is kinda like the highlander....there can be only one

Agreed, there has been some awesome racing in SSTK the past few years. Wish more people could watch it. Plus, it's something everyday trackday/clubracers can relate to equipment-wise. They are out there kicking ass on the same stuff we can all get our hands on. This year even more so since we have updated bikes from almost everyone.

Amen brother!

Saw the R1 M in red and white today at a local dealer. It drew me in wasn't sure re: look of front end but it's growing on me. I know you guys are talking technical I am just saying it looks tasty!

Well I guess between Josh Hayes and WSSTK the R1M decimated the competition. As a base package Yamaha is outrageous and is only going to get better. My hope is that Ducati can respond in 2016 with a New iteration on the Panigale that is capable of being more than the bridesmaid at the wedding :(

BTW, Herculean effort by Davies today for those that didn't see race one.

I heard rumours that it will be voice controlled. All you would need to say is "beam me up Scotty" and all hell will break loose. :D
