Rear cam chain tensioner.... leaking?

Hello, I have the same problem here. Can the tensioner be removed without the chain jumping? Do I need to take the piston into TDC position before removing the tensioner?

I took the tensioner out, while the motor was in some random position, and put it back, with no issues. I didn't turn the motor at all, so I can speak to what would happen to timing if you turned the motor with the tensioner in place.
