Thanks mate , any idea of the minimum side clearance I would leave ( •4 - •5 mm) ?
Interesting thread. To whom is this freeplay total value attributed to; is this something in the workshop manual? The play should be about 1.0-2.0mm total.
I assume you’re referring to the flat aluminum plates (2 items # 9 in parts list), one on each side of the linkage(item #10 and swingarm eyelet/lug). They are held parallel to each other by the bushings(2 items # 5) they tighten against, held by their bolt/nut at each end. If this is your point of side-play then you can buy shims to fit, but you’ll need to find the outside diameter of the bushings so any shim inside diameter will fit around the outside diameter of the bushings. The play should be about 1.0-2.0mm total.

Sorry I have a video but can’t load it at the moment but on the photo where the triangle meets the frame and pretty much all the points it connects.
yes you can eliminate a lot of the free play I changed the inserts to top hat bushings reducing the free play
So you chucked some washers at it. Pretty ironic there.
You could always weld it together. Bob's your unkle
I do track riding and used to have a 2011 s1000 bmw. I shined the swing arm end float on it and made a big difference on the change of direction. Sort of the difference between riding a superbike or a TZ gp bike. A lot more direct.
