Rear Shock Spring Rate

ohlins 80KG
Do you mean it is 80 N/mm? Seems very low but possible. The spring rate in Ohlins shock is the last numbers printed in the spring. Like this one "21046-34/100" has 100 N/mm. If anyone could have a look it would be a big help. I guess that Sachs and Ohlins are using the same rate(?).

For 2020 on the Panigale V4 and Streetfighter the spring rate was lowered, preload added and the linkage changed.

I installed a Bitubo rear shock with a 95 N/mm spring which allowed me to get my sag numbers where I wanted. I was about 215lbs back then but have since lost weight.

confirm rear springs on the v4S come standard with 80nm rear spring.

front has two 8.5 springs in it.

A lot of the rear is just the preload being too high. I think Ducati is worried someone is going to take a big girl for a ride and bottom it out over a bump. Meanwhile if you hit a bump on the highway it feels like you are getting ejected.

My 2021 Panigale V4S has a 85 Nm spring. I wonder if the 2021 SF still has a 80 Nm or if they went to the 85 Nm.

Panigale V4 2020-2021 uses the same shock/spring as Streetfighter V4 2021. This is Sachs shock but I guess it' uses the same spring rate(?).

The 2014 1199R isn't comparable at all since the shock setup is so different from the V4 models.

@Ducatifan I tried replacing my stock Sachs spring from my 2020 Streetfighter with a stiffer on to get the sag right but never really found what the stock spec is. I went off of a general recommendation from Ducati Omaha. I had a problem with the order as it seemed they shipped a spring for an Ohlins shock and not a Sachs one, which is longer. I ended up returning it and ordering a Bitubo shock which superbikeunlimited.com provided with a 95 Nm spring which was perfect and allowed me to set the sag right. Back then I was about 215lbs or so.

So you are saying that the Ohlins spring was shorter than the original Sachs shock spring. Did all the other dimensions fit? How big was the lenght difference and wasn't it possible to compensate the difference with the preload adjuster ring?

It seems to be very difficult to find the exact spring rate for the OEM Sachs spring. I am trying to evaluate how big change is the OEM Sachs spring versus 95 N/mm spring.

When you went to 95 N/mm spring in the new shock what kind of sag values did you measure with the original Sachs and the new shock? Did you use a lot of preload to get those values?

@Ducatifan

Ducati Omaha sells two Ohlins springs, one for the Sachs shock and one for the Ohlins shock. I think I got an Ohlins spring for an Ohlins shock which is shorter. Or maybe it was a Ohlins spring for a 1199/1299 Sachs shock. With the preload maxed on the Sachs shock body I had way too much static sag. Ideally, you'd be in the middle of the range of adjustment for rider sag, but I couldn't even get static sag set right.

With the stock Sachs shock, I couldn't get to 12-15mm static and 30-35mm of rider. I'd have almost no static to get the rider sag where I wanted it. With the Bitubo and the 95 N/mm I could easily get 12mm static and 30mm rider.

All of this sounds familiar. My Multistrada fork springs are way too soft, but the shock is perfect. I don't get it, whatever Ducati.
