Hello:
Posting in hear as no one had a feedback in the 899 section. I have owned this 899 for 5 years and have 10K on it. The bike started acting up rough idle, jerk down low in the revs, gut less over 5k. I purchased new Map sensor and replaced both. and still having the same problem. I can unplug the front MAP sensor for the rear cylinder and the bike remains unchanged. I swapped around sensors and still same problem. I checked line going to the map sensor and it looks and feels fine. The bike feels like the timing is retarded on it.

I than went deeper into the bike. I am not getting any feedback from the rear TPS sensor. I purchased a whole used setup and Throttles bodies and installed that TPS still same problem. The ECU is only picking up the FR TPS. I have power to the rear TPS. any ideas?

Thanks,

you havent pulled tank recently? disconnect both throttle motors and reconnect, check for broken down wires/connections in that area. do the throttles cycle when you key on? Key on with tank off and observe...

good luck buddy

everything was find till it started running rough. I took the tank off once years ago. yes the throttles blades do move. I wonder if the Tuneboy tune only picks up the Front TPS.

ah..so you have fuel controller....i'd disconnect that, and disconnect your battery for a few min, then try and start up with stock mapping. (i'm not familiar with tune boy myself, i use a handheld to flash my 1299...

how many miles you put a year buddy?

I am using the Tuneboy software to get feedback about the TPS position using my laptop. When I open the throttle I can see the blades open. The blade never go more than 37% open at Full throttle. I turn the bike off and see both TB blades open to 100%. I unhooked the rear TPS and used my hand to open and close the FR TPS and see it reading a steady 0-100% ranger. I than discounted the FR TPS and hooked up the rear TPS and I get no feedback from the sensor. It has two 5 volts power going to it. I replaced the REAR TPS with a used one. Still same problem. I emailed Tune Boy to confirm that his map would not disable the Rear TPS. I have the same tune for 5 years.

When the bike is off both the front and rear TPS will go to 100%?

I think the 37% thing may be because the bike isn’t moving, it’s in neutral or if it is in gear the clutch is pulled in. Can you log or setup a screen recorder and see what it’s position is on a ride?

I'd be checking for continuity in the sensor wire. I haven't looked specifically for feedback, but I'm sure I was getting readings for front and rear. Run a multimeter for resistance between the ECU and TPS connector. If you've changed the throttle and no change, it only leaves the wiring loom.

Unless you saw a reading, in Tuneboy, from the rear TPS before your problem started your method is flawed.

Do you have another diagnostic tool which can read it?
