Rear Wheel Plug - How does it not fall out?

Hi I got this rear wheel plug for my V4S but I can't see how it will actually stay in as it seems be only held in by the washers and when I tighten the screw it just spins in place.
In which case why is there a screw at all. I would expect tightening the screw makes it expand in some way to grip and stay put. Any ideas?

Also why to they make these things only for the right side? I think it would look nice both sides.

usually these have 3 parts, a plug for each side and a hollow threaded rod they screw into. However best advice is to ditch them, they are ugly, add weight and dont do anything good

The question was not if you think its looks good or is it useful. 🤣



Please don't get confused. This is a question about a rear wheel axle plug not a rear wheel axle protector.
Although the protector has a use I suppose. ;)

I can tell you what's not good about this forum. People are triggered by non functional motorcycle parts.

I think I should have asked the question on an engeering forum. I don't imagine a response of "don't know throw it away" 🤣

Funny how my simple curiosity highlighted the negative side of forums.

Back to your original question, not only does it look ..... , but it doesn’t fit and it poorly made…👍 quality!

Okay, not that I think it will help you but I will explain just so you know you are pushing out a lot negatively for nothing. I don't remember saying it's good or the quality is good, well made etc.

I will set the scene - My goal some some colour coordination on the bike. Gold, Black and Red but basically adding more gold.

I looked at the CNC brand for the "rear wheel plug" but from the images I couldn't quite see how they work and I might even try to make one myself.
So obviously I'm not going to pay for a CNC one yet. if I can't make one then maybe I will.
I saw similar designed cheap ones on Alliexpres for around a tenner and from that I could hopefully see what's going on.
But it wasn't quite the case so I posted a message here to see if I could get some helpful feedback 🤣

To answer your question the good thing is it will add some gold colour to the back of the bike. Don't tell me you don't care about aesthetics and your bike has random coloured parts all over it.

This is my last post on this thread now that I've explained. I will leave it to you to carry on alone. You know you want to :)
 
I absolutely agree about aesthetics, if it looks right it generally is right!
Trouble is that won’t look right post a pic of it fitted but for now..
