So has anyone had to take the rear heat guard off (cover over the pipes below the seat?

I was going to get some of that reflective foil and line it.

Do you have to pull anything off to get it off? Looks like a couple bolts an o2 sensor but can't really tell if their's enough clearance.

Just checking before I try

i put in some pics in the exhaust wrap thread... loosen the tank and lift up the rear. otherwise there;s no clearance.

seat off, unbolt top tank holder, take off cover arount lock in the front. take out 2 lower screws of rear, loosen the two upper ones, lift up the tank (on this cylindrical bolt thing), then lift the tail section and support it. the shield itself only has 3 screws, the ox. sens. is a 17 mm, easy to access. make sure to unplug it, makes twisting out easier.

good luck

Thanks Phil!
