Well, with a -1 tooth, there wouldn't be a need to shorten it, just the opposite. In my case they make a slight adjustment, that slightly lengthens the chain (and the wheel base I imagine).

Honestly, I did the 14T on my 1098 and 1198. It was great.

Now? The 1199 rides SO much better in the lower revs, and I can't keep the front end down as it is? I think I'll stick with factory gearing for now.....

Really, 2nd gear, 75/80 mph, the front end walks up. A 14T is only going to make that worse!

Has anyone heard from Ducati that going to one tooth smaller in the front was not recommended?
I recall that is what they said about my 1098. That it would lead to swing arm wear...but many did it with no detrimental effects I ever heard of...
Otherwise its the sprocket carrier, new 3 tooth rear sprocket and probably a new chain...a much much more expensive option!

couldn't detect any since i put it on ~500 miles.

the riding is fantastic. i mean i loved it before, but now it is perfect. matches the speed zones / gears better, so that you're over the 5k. (for those who care)

will report how it affects track riding. will be at carolina motorsports park next sat.

Nope no effect on the speedo or ABS since all the sensors are on the wheels.

Dude, he said what I said

-1 on the front loosens the chain, so corrective action is adjust with rear hub which changes ride height and wheelbase, or leave and just shorten chain.

yes...I think traction control can be affected...but who knows..maybe being an Italian (=not german) machine, the Pani is smarter than this...

I didn't think it was that massive amount of change from stock 15/39.

Next time ill buy it myself off eBay, got the dealer to order it and ended up being nearly double the price.

Fitting it myself wasn't that hard at all.
Traction control doesn't get affected.
