Hello all, after 20 years of riding GSX-Rs and CBRs I'm considering getting my first Ducati. I'm looking at a 2013 1199 Panigale S.
It has 24,800KM. Is there anything I should look for or ask about? Any drawbacks on that particular year and model? I've never purchased a used car or bike before.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

Make sure the valve clearance service has been done recently. At that many miles, probably needs fork seals replaced, perhaps bushings too. Swingarm pivot may need to be greased. Better go look at the factory service schedule, and ask them what not been done or whats been completed. That could significantly cost some funds.

WOW! At this point I'm thinking I should take a trip to GP Bike and look into a newer one. Perhaps the 1299. I knew about the valve clearance (24k km) but not the other scheduled services.
I'm assuming that I can find the service schedule on the forum?
Thanks for your reply.

At a minimum you need fresh fork oil, oil change for motor, brake and clutch fluid, maybe brake pads too. Like I said, ask for service records.

first of all: welcome!

second: a little bit of luck is also needed. But a bike with a full history is more likely to be in a good shape.

Take somebody with you that has more knowledge. ;)

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately We don't have a lot of Ducati enthusiasts here in Kingston. At least that I know of.
I'll ask for the service records and the specifics mentioned above.
