Riders keeping it between the lines

I noticed there wasn't as much lane crossing as I usually see on his videos. I can't help to think there's a lot of knee down where the turns don't really call for that much body position or lean angle. That's me being critical for the sake of the conversation but still...

That is a pretty epic road though. It's on my bucket list of things to do.

agree that maxwrist was doing more than needed... also I think Cuban Rider has taken that pretty much stock XR around COTA in 2:29ish I think which is quite quick on a sport bike let alone a sport touring bike.

How impressive to the easily amused among us. Not a lot of room for error and those trees stand ready to knock the blood out of all of the arteries in a body. Hopefully he'll learn to control his online need for attention before it kills him or another rider.

I used to ride the Taunus north of Frankfurt when I was younger. Similar set up though a bit shorter in length. Would ride by all of the crosses on the side of the road on the way up and down. Helped keep the adrenaline and stupidity in check.

Again, hopefully this guy learns before its too late.

As an example of road riding ability whichever side of the road you start on ..I would give it 3/10.

With all the hazards and potential hazards on a road you have to ride it differently to the track.
The shape you make, where you start a bend, where you finish a bend, has to be different and safety and stability have to be at the forefront of your riding plan …anyway!

Well put. Riding in the video is mediocre at best. Anyone can get a knee down even at 25 mph if that's the objective.

lol... let's not get carried away. I don't endorse that kind of riding, but pretty sure it's beyond the capability of most... I went back and checked Cuban Rider's times at COTA. 2:27 on a supernaked and a claimed 2:26 on the XR (he has a video of him going below 2:30 )...

I think you are missing the point.......its not on a track its a public road.

I have been around the track scene for 10 years. The thing you learn very quickly is everyone makes up .... about their lap times. Ohh look at this video, ooh look my wife clocked me with an iphone stop watch on pit lane, ohh I was following a fast guy who claimed he was doing xx so I was doing xx, ooh butt dyno etc. None of that is ever real. Unless you can show me two or three laps clustered close together measured on a 10Hz GPS lap timer, your claimed lap times are about as real as a unicorn. Laptimes are a very precise business. Even 1hz GPS timers can be off by as much as 1 second or more. Most real racers will use both a 10 Hz timer and a transponder on the track's timing loop and ballpark their laptimes between the two.

I have no idea if that guy is fast on track. May very well be. All Andy and I are saying is riding a superbike on the street like that is not very impressive.

I think what you actually said is "riding... is mediocre at best"

about the rest of your post... the video's up there. Anyone who has ridden COTA can watch and draw their own conclusions.
