Jogy's solution seems to be pretty clever. Unfortunately this won't work with the Ilmberger ceramic sleeves.
I do not have the side covers installed (except the SL). I don't like them (the engine is simply too beautiful) and my suspicion is that Ducati introduced them only to hide leaking valve cover gaskets
Also some racers here like Styler mentioned that they want to see the cylinder head just to know if something goes wrong.
On my Tricolore the 2012 OEM exhaust loop cover is fixed with 3 screws: I replaced them with special bolts that are safety wired and contain a steel springs to keep the shield flexible in position. Works perfect since more than 2 years.
On the CF Pani I have the Full Ti Akra system, completely different heat shield design: It's mounted with 4 M8(!) screws to the subframe instead the exhaust (makes much more sense to me).
On the SL, heat shield is also mounted to the CF subframe with two terribly weird steel studs, need to replace them with Ti. I kept the side covers on the SL, they are really nice and mounted in a completely different and rock solid way.
As usual, it looks like you have the know how to solve my problem Urs Might have to talk to you when you're back from Almeria.
