Carnage in the WSSP 300 today, he highsided and was struck multiple times by other bikes. He’s Mavericks cousin I believe. He’s passed from the injuries. That grid is too packed and the bikes too similar, and letting teenagers race it is not a good idea.

Maybe you should call Jorge Viegas at FIM and tell him to make some changes. Maybe you could author some more of your scientific peer reviewed studies to back up your criticism of the current situation and bolster your proposed solution.

I’m going to send YOU a PM with links to my publication. I have to get it ready.

Please resist applying the liberal mentality of creating regulations under the guise of protecting people from themselves to racing.

Everyone who steps out on to that grid knows the risks, young and old. They don't need you or anyone else to dictate who is or isn't capable of making that decision. There is no way to completely eliminate the danger of racing motorcycles. Protective gear can continue to advance, but it will never be perfect. That ...... knee jerk reaction whenever someone dies from something mindset is why Pikes Peak no longer has motorcycle racing. It's the same mindset of the people trying to shut down the Isle of Man TT because "muh danger."

....... cancer. Let men be men. That "kid" died doing something he loved. That's not something many people can say, and idiots like you are trying to minimize that number on a regular basis. You'd prefer everyone live boring ... lives and die of old age, drowning in thoughts of, "I wish I would have..."

It's sad a young man with so much promise died, sure. But I envy him, and hope fate is kind by allowing me to die doing something badass instead of just laying in a pile of my own filth as an old man and fading away into the darkness.

Nice to see folks make it about themselves and politics.

RIP Dean

Edit: Jesus Christ. 15 years old. Didn't realize that initially.

I didn’t do it. He did. So yes I’m getting a list of my publications together, the ones with public release only. It’ll be ready by tomorrow. Too nice out to do it now. I’m out in my 350 Shelby for a drive over to the Bay.

You drive a Mustang too?

Yea, so what? I had a few 911's as well, two CTS-V's (sedan and coupe), a modded twin turbo Z, a 1998 ITR and a few others. How does that first in with this thread? Check you PM for the list you wanted....most of its there that I can link to. Others are classified or CUI.

what a bunch of self righteous ........ some of you are.

Ever had a 15 year old son? If not then definitely go .... yourselves. Kids do not the ability to make life decisions in the same way as adults, they have a vague distorted idea of consequences- its never going to happen to them. Let men be men, .... Mav have you watched too many westerns?

This is about the rules and environment so that risk is reduced, not about someones idea of dying like a man for entertainment purposes. That is what governing bodies are for, its not about choice either. Three kids have died in these lightweight classes in the last few months-something is very wrong. Slipstreaming, not enough power possibly, not enough consequences for dangerous overtakes- whatever it is the organising authorities are obliged to review it.

15 year olds, they are children

Wow, we’ll Paul you just managed to nuke most of sports future stars hopes and dreams. Keep them in the bubble til what age Paul? 30? A 12 year old girl can fall off a balance beam, crack her skull and die. An 8 yo BMX kid can case a jump an easily fall hard enough to snap a neck. Where did you want to start with these incompetent teens? What’s the minimoto starting age fells? What 5? What’s the solution Paul?

I agree totally, and that’s what I meant. BUT someone got triggered about it, and turns to insults and more. So who’s the bad guy here? Is it me for merely saying RIP to a young racer and that 15 might be a bit young for a world level racing event? Then I get attacked personally and professionally. Somebody has some insecurities and it’s not me.

Relax little lady. No one is mad at you.

You seem to be, why is that? What’s the trigger here? Why so insecure? So now you think it’s somehow demeaning to me to infer I’m a woman…..I don’t care, but it’s an interesting turn. Are you afraid of women? Does putting them down make you feel better about yourself? In your mind they are not your equal? This is good, so what’s next? What kind of insult or put down is coming??

Dude, you need a break. All that RF has eroded your sense of humor..Hey I love women. I’m bringing mine to COTA, she’s awesome. You can ask her all about my chauvinistic pig ways when you meet her. Wear something pretty and maybe a colorful sun hat so we know who you are.

I watched my best friend spend his childhood being told he could pursue his dreams of racing cars when he got older and was a "man" only to suddenly get cancer and pass right after his 18th birthday.

Too often we assume life is guaranteed. The "kid" had the skill to race at that level, the desire to race at that level, and supporting parents. Yet there are people who would advocate for arbitrary rules that would have prevented him from competing until he's survived enough passes around the sun.

Who would that rule benefit? The parents? The same parents who supported his career and allowed him to race? It would be a stupid rule that serves nobody but idiots who want a warm fuzzy in their heart, thinking they're saving muh children.

I am extremely sorry because young man, great athlete lost his life! Paul, I have 14yo who is second degree black belt TKD, member of competition team competing on National level.
At tournaments or at practice he would sometimes get kicked in the head, bust his nose, lip etc. Please don’t try to bash me for comparing dangers of TKD and motorcycle racing because I don’t, just giving personal insight of a parent who’s kid is pursuing sport which can contribute to all kind of injuries .What do you and DC think did I had conversation with my son about possibility of injuries small and big ones!? Of course I did and he understood this possibility and made decisions to continue, with all this said do you think parents of late young racer had same conversation with him…you get the idea! They are maybe young but to think they don’t know what they are getting themselves into is ridiculous!
