Hi, I just got some Rizoma levers and it says to unscrew the OEM pin for the existing ones.

Anyone had trouble doing this? I tried and it started stripping the hex nut after one turn.. opps..

Any tips?

OK... Hold up there gentlemen..

There is a very tiny allen head bolt which holds that nut in place. Take a look very closely.. You must remove that bolt or you will strip the assembly.

It's about the smallest allen head screw I've ever seen.. It's like something you would see on a pair of sunglasses.

Luckily I asked a Ducati tech if there were any issues I would encounter while swithcing out the levers.. He laughed and described exactly what you are doing as very common.

Hope that helps..

Yah, never noticed that.

You don't need to re-use the push pins with the DP levers, as they get replaced.

it's a set screw.. 1.5mm Allen is what you'll need. they're pretty common in the rc world. normally used to hold pinion gears on motor shafts.

How did you guys like the new rizoma levers? Is this just a bling investment, or do they make a noticeable difference. I don't really mind the stock levers and generally just stay with them. So was wondering what I'm missing out on.

to get the pin back into the rubber grommet, is TOUGH!

What I did was lube the pin with grease and use two dental pic tools to stretch the opening of the rubber grommet and slip it in, it's not easy and took fiddling but I just didn't want to cut the rubber.

Ok now how do you get the pin into the rubber housing? bloody impossible!! :(

I have the Evotechs, and other than bling, I like fewer fingers on the lever. I used a socket (as in wrench) as my punch to remove the bushings from my OEMs, then as I said a little 3 in 1 oil on the gromment, then just kept working then pin in the oil untill seated correctly.

You guys are making this WAY too difficult! ;) The rubber grommet pops out of the master cylinder, after you've removed the stock lever/pin just pull outward on the grommet and use a pick to carefully pry it out around the edge, pop it over the pin as you install the new lever, then just press the edge of the grommet back into its seat in the master cylinder.

Hey, if we wanted to do it the right way, we would have asked someone that owned a Ducati shop how to do it, rather than explore/discuss amongst ourselves :D

I tried but was never able to free the grommet from the master cyl (this is on my streetfighter)

When i looked at mine it appeared to have a circlip holding the grommet/dust seal in the end of the cylinder. Anyway onto mechanicals,I simply pinched the grommet with some skinny nose pliers so the push rod hole became a slot and it went in no problem. I was fitting Lightech levers to my beloved. To tell you the truth I dont particularly like the levers. Clutch feels fine but the brake feels a touch spongy now, like the lever isn"t as sturdy as the OE item. Also there is some slight wobble in the bushings and extra clearance between the cylinder body pivot point and the thickness of the lever. Not impressed.

Hey, but do they look good? That's all that's important ;)

Nah... it's a set screw. If it isn't backed off first, you will strip the thread.

Just to be clear, I'm referring to nut B:

I held it with a spanner, while loosening pin A. The master cylinder lower flange is threaded, so as you said, backing off a little made it much easier.
