Just want to write a little review on the Rs Tai chi motion jacket. I have had many jackets in the past, both material (cortech alpine stars) and leather (alpine stars and some other brand that i forgot). I can say with full confidence this is the best jacket i have ever worn. Its not even close. The ventilation is second to none. Its as cool or if not cooler with way more protection than my alpinestars stunt mesh jacket. At night time you may even be cold. Gunny on the money with this one for sure.
If you are in the market for a jacket thats great in ALL seasons dont waste your money buying 2 just get the rs tai chi and forget about anything else.

I'm kinda torn between this one and the Dianese Air 3. I like the red stripe on the Air, and it looks/sounds like it has more air flow.

I like the looks of this jacket, but it looks more similar to a Dainese Santa Monica or a Ducati whatever their version of the Santa Monica is (Trauma has it). I don't see how it could possibly not be hotter than the Dainese Air (2,3, X) since those jackets are entirely mesh except for part of the sleeves and the armored areas. If it is, that's incredible, but I have a Santa Monica perf and it is waaaaay hotter than my Air 2.

Referred this jacket to Mark and another member here who obviously both love it for many reasons. Though I can't stand watching or listening to Brian Van's voice review anything, they do decent reviews on items.

Glad you like it this much Mark. Like you, its the BEST jacket I have ever owned myself!

You have one? Cool - I'll check it out at the next meet.

Sat

You are welcome to stop by Sat if not on the golf course. I am mounting those mirrors I told you about and actually have an extra set too! Cmon by and lend a helping hand brother - you can try on the jacket then and see my track bike as well man.

So none of you know if this is "meshier" than the Dianese?

These dudes should know since they have it, but the Dainese is so "meshy" it's barely a jacket. I have had people say "why bother, that won't hold up in a crash" since it is so minimalist. From what I can tell on the review this is a perforated leather jacket, hence my skepticism on the cooling properties since I already have a perf leather jacket and it can't compare to the Air 2 as far as cooling.

I may do that. I knew my mirrors must have gotten hijacked coming from Rizoma and it sounds like you hijacked them and are now installing them!

LOL. Not me man, Im not into the Rizoma's. I think Mark called Lyle and gave them your new address in Nigeria. You are welcome to the Moto Science ones I have if you like them, and can even take my jacket for a long ride to test out the coolness factor dude!

You do know thats kind of a ridiculous comparison, right ? You're comparing a leather jacket to a mesh jacket and one jacket is 3x more expensive than the other one.

Thats like saying - geez this panigale R is the fastest bike ever. It's so much faster than the Monster 696 that I had. . ..

And I'd like to point out, your way off in saying this is an all-season jacket or a 4 season jacket. . Especially in your area. . This jacket is at most a 3 season jacket. It's nowhere near adequate as a 4 season jacket. I have had this jacket, and I imagine I'm further south than you and its definitely NOT a four season jacket. It's even marginal in the chillier spring/fall parts as well. . So saying its a four season jacket is a big big stretch unless you're in socal (where essentially there aren't seasons).

Outside of that - its a pretty well made and well ventilated jacket. It's one of the better made jackets out there with only a few that are better.

The Air 3 is half the price, but you can also get airbags for the Taichi for $900. CF you said the Air 3 is like your 2, so if you see Gunny's let me know the difference. I just want a commuting jacket for STL when 90 and humid. :)

trauma - if you want best ventilation, the mesh air jackets are way more ventilated than the perforated leather. . . Pick your poison there. .. Not much you can do. Perforated leather works pretty well, but not as cool (with air running through) as the all vent stuff. . . (some would say not even close). .. I ride with perforated leather as I still don't trust textiles that much. They mostly work but they still will give you a good burn when in contact with your skin.

Up to 90, you should be fine in the really well made perforated leather though. Beyond that - you better be moving. . .

Forget the RST airbag system. . You wouldn't want to use it (well you would want it if you were in some trouble). It's a pretty rudimentary system compared to the A* and Dainese airbag system. The RST is based on a tether ripping lose (which you have to connect and disconnect every time you get on and off the bike).

i guess reading comprehension is not your best feature. i compared it to the jackets I have owned. nowhere did i compare it to the dainese jacket. i have never worn or owned a dainese product. I compared it to the alpinestars stunt jacket, which I own and the 2 other leather jackets that I owned.

I am ready to dump my Ducati Corse leather perf for commuting, I am fine for textile. So in your opinion, which moves the most air in the textile relm?

i will stand corrected on the 4 seasons part. i dont ride past oct nor before mid april. with the liner it works perfect for me.

If I read correctly, you compared it's ventilation and safety to a A* stunt air jacket thats like 1/3 of the price.

And obviously you're comprehension is even worse than mine. Where did I even mention Dainese in that response to you ?? Are you confusing my post with somebody else ? (again - reading comprehension, eh ???)

This one is tough to quantify. . . big variances in textile when it comes to protection. Some much better than others, some much worse. . . I mean, you could say the Icon jackets are cheap and ventilate like hell - they just don't protect much. . . .
