RS tai chi gmx motion jacket review

If I read correctly, you compared it's ventilation and safety to a A* stunt air jacket thats like 1/3 of the price.

And obviously you're comprehension is even worse than mine. Where did I even mention Dainese in that response to you ?? Are you confusing my post with somebody else ? (again - reading comprehension, eh ???)

yes i did compare it to the a* stunt and yes its 1/3 of the price of the rs tai chi. the point was that its a full leather jacket with better ventilation than the mesh a* jacket. I have them both and i wont be wearing the stunt anymore. why would I it offers less protection and it isnt as well ventilated. Dainese was brought up by someone else.
bottom line as gunny, duc1199 (has the jacket loves it) , ttkarp (in a previous post on this thread) and myself would recommend this jacket without question.
Im pretty sure once Capt tries on Gunnys jacket he will love it too.

Sorry, I brought up Dainese since I tend to buy Dainese stuff. :)

Anyway, my perf Dainese jacket (Santa Monica) is much hotter and flows a lot less air than my Dainese Air 2. However, if I had an off, I'd much rather be in the Santa Monica. :)

Getting a bit off topic - but I never owned the SM but I have tried it on in the store. I dont' think it perforated as well as the Rebel perf and New Delmar Perf from them. The new Super speed perforated looks to be similar as the Rebel which would be better than the S.Monica, but still nowhere near the textile ventilated jackets. The top of the line A* leather jacket (which is pricey) vents very very well. Even better than the Dainese and RST. Only problem is that its fairly rare and its really expensive. .

There does seem to be some differences in manufacturing ventilation on the leather jackets. Some prefer perforation through the leather (RST, Dainese, etc). Some have perf along with secondary textile materials in supposedly non-abrasive areas. Some don't perf the back and some do. . Obviously ram air through the perf works best, but there has to be some method to vent air into the back area where heat accumulates. The two that I prefer the most are the bubble liners that will move some air through the jacket that comes in from the front, and the other which I discounted until recently was the race hump. I really despise the race hump on street jackets - but it seems to be a primary method for quite a few of these manufacturers to get air down the back. So essentially, the more "racy" you are(where you let the hump catch air) on the bike, the more air that enters the back of the jacket and cools you off. . .

So it sounds like from Mark/Gunny the A* is the coolest leather perf. What I really need then, is to find out if the Air3 is cool enough to make it worth the less protection, minor as it may be. I am just on a highway for 20 mins, but if I loved it, would probably take it on weekend rides as well.

I started out as thinking the Air 2 would only be for those really, really hot days, but it turns out I basically swapped it for the Santa Monica and now I only wear that jacket in the spring and fall pretty much. I wear a Revit winter jacket all winter and then a couple weeks in the Santa Monica and then the rest of the year in the Air 2. It's got really good arm and shoulder armor and I added the optional back protector, but the abrasion protection in the body, etc. is definitely suspect due to the lightweight mesh construction.

I guess if you wear Gunnys, or at least look at it, you can see if it is closer to the SM or the Air :)

I have a a RS Taichi GMX, and I love it.

Its my "Go to" jacket. I have pretty nice line of of Dainese jacket but I seem to go for GMX 9 out of 10 times.

I also have top of the line Taichi leather suit. Cant beat the quality and comfort. I have tried on Dainese Race replica. Pretty cool and nice but I still like the Taichi.

youngR - which dainese race replica ? the Rossi one ? Utterly cool looking jacket whether you like rossi or not. But you definitely can't compare that one as thats not perforated at all. . .

trauma - no chance. The air will win the ventilation comparison. It's not even close. . . seriously. . But if you go down, you will definitely want any of the other ones mentioned .. GMX is just a good perforated leather jacket - but its still leather. ..

You want to know whats better than the GMX motion in leather ? The GP Tech Air by A*. . . I can't say its not even close, but its significantly better. It's better in the armor, better constructed, cooler/better vented, better back protector pocket (can fit full size forcefield pro back protector in it), etc. . leather quality is similar but its a significantly better jacket.. . It's also ugly expensive and out of most peoples price range. There is another one we can get into thats double even the A* price range, but thats a whole another story.

But is it as cool/ventilated as a the better constructed textile mesh ? unfortunately still no. . .

It looks great! I am scared to ask, but have to, tell me "another story" ;)

i dont know how you come to that conclusion trauma. look at the thread. i own 2 a* and i can tell you the rs tai chi is a better ventilated jacket. Now i dont know about the one anthem is talking about however as he said your comparing apples to oranges on the price point (his words not mine) I have the a* mx1 jacket. the rs tai chi is half the price (compared to the gp tech). i dont see one guy on this thread that said the a* was better except for anthem, however i see multiple guys saying the rs is their go to jacket. do you think the a* jacket is 400 better vented then the tai chi i doubt it. take that how you wish

I meant the Tai!! So replace the A* with Tai, and re-read :)

all in all my post was just saying the rs tai chi is a great jacket great price point and it fits bigger people. im 215 a* im a size 60. 58 in tai chi. is anthem right that the gp tech air is better? i dont know never owned one. i do know the rs tai chi comes with a back protector you dont have to add one, its half the price, looks great, and protection seems good. For the same price a* offerings are not better i feel they are worse. I say this cause i have their offering at this price. in fact my a* was 600 i cant say what i paid for the tai chi lol.

Trauma - just get this in green.

This one flows a lot of air too, but you'll get flocked by curb squirrels if you have guns like I do. Text tart!

Just wanted to chime in, I have a GMX motion (white and red) and love it. It is very cool with great airflow. I really could not see how or why you would need more airflow then this jacket provides. In any event at the price point this thing can not be touched. Also wanted to comment on sizing as I had at hard time finding good info. I'm 5'11 190 (almost muscular haha) and the 54 fits me perfect , I am glad I did not go with the 56 aside from the fact that there is a backlog for them.
