Running costs: ride an 1199 for free?

You only have to change the oil once a year and it only takes 3qts. Sorry, that's the most sensible thing I could come up with- sometimes you have to follow your heart.

However, my wife told me I could have a bike for every kid. So, I have 2 beautiful babies in the garage (oh, and 2 in the house too).

This is Awesome :)

My misses said buy what I want it's your hobby

To bad were poor. another year for me to get mine

I have to consider myself fortunate. My wife says: buy what you want, you worked hard all your life and you deserve it :D

Me too! When I got my first bike, a Monster 696 she all but pushed me into keeping the termis on the demo bike I bought! And I have thanked her many times since.
Then when I was getting the 1199 I had a deposit on a Tri but kept wondering if I should go S abs instead.
She would get irritated with me when I ran it by her a few times.
She would say "get the Tri colore! It's the one you want and you will just kick yourself if you don't. Plus it's so unique"
So, I've got a Tri Colore!
Yea, my wife is pretty damn cool! :)

Stuff it I am just going to come out and say what I am sure some are thinking but just too polite to say ( I have always liked Americans they are polite) This post is just ridiculous what sort of person gets on the internet to ask people whether to buy a motorbike or not. Its just too stupid for words.

Opinions on tail tidy, advice and feedback about maintenance etc etc is great to see but this crap what a waste of time for people to read.

Thats my input Luke. Next time go to the tax advice forum and ask an accountant.

Obvious troll is obvious. I don't think any of us were thinking it. In fact, I think the majority of us see a fellow member of the community discussing his desire to own the Panigale and rationale behind his decision to galvanize his resolve before the gatekeeper. It's not ....... Sex and the City. Christ.

Luke - You won't regret it. I sold my BMW before summer (more cause I hated the car) and traded in my 1198 SP for the Pani. I am buying a Yukon to haul a trailer for track days and When I need to drive in the rain but other than that I ride the Pani every day. In Newport Beach the weather is going to be a lot more friendly for you than here in Seattle so I don't think the math is hard on that one ;)

It's really a no-brainer: I need to buy this bike.

I suppose I've failed to mention that the only thing holding me back is uncertainty about my financial future. I'm involved in a lawsuit which could either result in 1) solvency and the freedom to make this purchase guilt-free, or 2) bankruptcy and the need to quickly shed a $350/month Ducati payment.

That's the hard sell to the wife, who is far less of a gambler than I am.

Sorry if this is TMI. I still appreciate every comment. I also love how un-snobby Ducati folk are (the rice racers love to pick on us and call us names, but seriously, they're the exclusive ones).

Its better to ask for forgiveness than permission. Jk Jk my wife finds me more tolerable after I get me time.

Buy a Veyron, then a Panigale as a daily driver will more than offset the costs you'd be spending on gas or depreciation of putting miles on the Bugatti. Problem solved.
