I couldn’t get on with the thumb brake … scooter brake way easier to use…oh and the thumb brake struggles to clear the fairing unless you put the clutch at a stupid angle.

This above all clears on lock to lock and both are at a useable angle …

That looks great Andy, nice job. Can you please share the deets on which "scooter brake" specifically how big is the master cylinder and how is the stopping power on track? Are you running the line straight to rear caliper or to ABS module?

so I also kept the rear foot brake relacing the rear master with this. It means you can run the foot pedal and a thumb or finger brake.

One you have this you can add the second master up at the bar in whatever form you want I tried a thumb brake but couldn't get on with it and there was clearance issues around the fairing.

they do the finger brake in different sizes for different feel at the bar I went with the 13 and the feel is good. obviously being the back brake you can lock the wheel if you try really hard. I found it easier to modulate with my fingers better than the thumb. It was easier to fit too to get clearance all around although I did change the clutch master to a brembo res as it sits straighter from the bar than the std angled one. This gave me more options on the fit.

As you know once you move off clutch out you don't touch it again until you stop. Thats why I put the brake above the clutch rather than the other way around to kinda make the go to lever a brake rather than the clutch.

Pipe wise I ran a new pipe from the master across the top of the radiator, following the route of the front calliper pipe. down past the abs unit and straight to the new foot master, leaving the std pipes form the foot master to the abs and abs to rear calliper. ( you could eliminate the ABS pipe work as its a track bike so no rear abs set.)

now I have the choice of foot rear brake or finger..

you also remove the rear fluid pot and .... bracket and move that to up next to the clutch pot.

simple!

Rick , When do you use the rear in corners? Mid corner?

I, personally, never use the rear brake 🤷

But, people that do, say they're on it all the time. Corner entry (as you're braking), mid corner (help tighten the line), and anti-wheelie. I know some fairly slow riders that use it too, so can be used by all levels.

I have my engine brake set higher than I used to (ie more engine breaking), and am still setting PBs, maybe a connection!

I think you would have to be a pretty competent rider to use the rear brake to make a difference to lap time on the kind of bikes that we ride and tires we use. I have experimented with using it to tighten the line etc, but I have found it just another thing to get distracted by.

But if you were inclined to experiment, then definitely a thumb or handbrake is the way to go, part of the problem with a foot brake is the lack of finesse through the boot

The scooter brake is the way to go, it’s a more natural movement to squeeze the left index finger lightly, took forever for me to get comfortable enough on the bike to use the thumbrake, because ergonomically whole better than the foot brake it’s less than ideal.

The bottom right line is the rear master cylinder to ABS pump. The S line above it is the supply from ABS pump to the rear brake caliper. By removing both of these lines, and installing plugs at the ABS pump and disabling ABS in the dash and staying in Race setting, that is Rear ABS delete. You have to buy a specific line that goes from rear master cylinder directly to the rear caliper. It would be nice to find a brake line kit that supplies the front ABS line but deletes the rear, to fully utilize the Ducati software but somehow no one offers that kit
