Yes that is my bike, pipe and picture. It is DP Akra for 1299/s and it has silver spacers. I'll measure it late today, let you know then.

The only reason for the two long aluminium rear spacers and the strangely formed heatshield at that location is to allow installation of passenger footpegs. SL heatshield is directly attached to the subframe without spacers at all, and only with the two front screws.

Don't know why they don't offer the option of the carbon shroud in ;-
a, matte finish to match the rest of the dp stuff.
b, with no possibility of passie footrests. Most folk will know from day one if they ever
intend to fit them.

Does the heat still pass through the carbon/shield? Or is the heat felt by the rider coming from around the outside of the shield.

In other words, would lining the shield with some of that heat tape eliminate some of the heat?

(like we put on the inside of gas tanks to keep race fuel cool, or inside bodywork to keep the heat from the larger full exhausts off the race lower)

When I fitted the Akra system to my 1199, I added a silver foil lined heat shield backing to the carbon heat shield. The standard carbon comes with a very thin foil lining already and I added a thicker layer of the top of that.

Result: no detectable difference in heat on the leg. It still gets hot. I posted pics last year of it all. Maybe it may have been a little worse if I had not done it. who knows.

Ah ok. Well ..... lol

I knew that Ducati logo on the Akrapovics would come in handy. I was leaving the store when the police pulled up as I started my bike he got startled and about jumped out of his shoes when I started my bike. He approached me and told me to cutoff the engine. He said " Is that an aftermarket exhaust? you know in 2013 the law changed for motorcycles exhaust and the noise requirement bla bla bla" Im thinking here comes a ticket but he looked down at the mufflers and saw the "Ducati" Performance and said never mind I see its stock and he asked me if I modified the mufflers and I told the truth and said No this thing is less than a week old I don't even have my plates yet why would I do that? He said OK and by the way thats a nice bike I said thanks and he went into the store. Funny

He just wanted to show you whose the boss here :)

don't worry.

you won't commute on it in summer traffic standstill and on the track just roll out slow at 3rd call and you'll be fine. anything over 40 mph makes the heat (what heat?) disappear.

True, good point. :)

I like to go out at the last second anyway to make sure I don't lose too much heat in my tires. Ideally I will leave my pit, roll out to hot-pit and immediately into my warm up lap.

Added some carbon and CNC Stuff on the rear. I Didn't put the AFAM QC carrier and sprockets or DID chain on until i wear out the OEM stuff. Thanks to the guys at Bellissimoto, Motovation USA and Shift-tech. I also added the DP Carbon Contrails and key guard. Its coming along

I added some more stuff this weekend at my buddy's shop. I added the DP Carbon Stator and Clutch covers, Progrips 717, CNC Racing Gas Cap and Ducati Carbon key guard, conveyors. The bike gets better each time I ride it.

Does the standard heat shield fit the Akra pipe or does this pipe have a different routing? Thinking of ordering the pipe for my new bike but don't like the "mini skirt" look and shine of the Akra shield.
