Had this happen to my clocks. Don't know how or why.
Left the bike, went for a coffee and it was like this when I came back.
Really annoying and dunno how it happened. Looks like it's scratched or cracked.
Anyone else had this happen. Not easy to see from the pic but looks like the scratches are deep enough to be cracks.

mine has some minnor scratches were there when i bought it not that bad wish you could replace the covers like on the 1098

Seems like I read somewhere that the windscreen kinda acted as a magnifying glass and was causing some of the instrument panels to crack. Not sure if that was on certain models or windscreens though.

Bizarre. Is there any evidence that something struck the face of the display?
Also, how old is the bike?

just go to your dealer and tell them that your turn signal is not working and you cant switch mode and they will replaced or play angel and pay $1000.00 for a new one. decision, decision, decision:D

Fraud. Great idea esmirna.

Did you wash it and have something on the rag ? Maybe some dirt or something? I have read the horror stories about scratching the display here. When I wash mine, I am always sure I do the display first, in case I got some grime on the towels from the other body parts. Maybe that ?

NOLA

That sucks, I usually lay my gloves over the dash when the bike sits for that reason. I wonder if you clean it and use some wax on it if that would help at all, what about a 3M film cover over it?

Also the dealer will try to just replaced the turn signal control before the replaced the dash. Let them do it and a week later call them and tell that you can't still change mode after that they will not have any other option but replaced your dash.:D

so much for ETHICS.

I have similar but smaller scratches. Along with clutch fluid etching. Thanks dealer for leaving residue after fluid change. Blew on the screen and didn't notice until too late. What mechanic is going to own up to that, none.

Anyone without marks on the screen, I highly recommend putting film on it right away.

Any way soon or later he will get his dash replaced. i'm on my 4 dash already the last one was good for only 80 miles
he can always pay $1000.00 for a replacement dash with manufacture defect

my original dash has 4,500 miles and looks brand new..... ETHICS!

ok op you need to buy a new dash because the residence of New York don't park on double parking, alway move their cars on clean up day and when they get a parking ticked for expired meter they blame their self. happy my lord?

I had a bit of etching on my dash, (undoubtably caused by my not being careful enough when bleeding the clutch). I was able to easily remove the problem by using Meguiar's PlastX and a soft cloth. There are many products out there designed to "clean" plastics, the Meguiar's was not overly abrasive.

If you bike got damaged by clutch fluid because the cap from the reservoir leak, It will be covered under warranty just call your dealer, my MTS1200 leak brake fluid and damage my dash, tank panel and one of the ohlins fork all covered under warranty

Bike is just over 2 years old. I bought it new in May 2012.
Just out of warranty.
Have a dark screen on it so don't think it would be that.
No evidence of anything hitting it as no other damage anywhere.
I'll take a trip to the dealer to see if they can do anything.
Clocks have always had the fogging issue which the dealer said there was no fix for. Was hoping that the front plastic could be changed but not looking like that is possible.

From the pic, it looks badly scratched, rather than cracked.

I would say you could polish them away to a good degree.

Something like a cutting polish first, then a more gentle resin polish.

No power tools though - too much heat and chances of creating dips.

i don't have a picture at the moment, but the the screen on my 1199r developed a few strange "stains" (for lack of a better word) - not as aggressive looking as what your screen looks like, but appears to me to be coming from the inside.....i've forgotten about it.....

i have fine scratches in mine that you can only see through direct sunlight. what i do have is many water spots on the inside from that figment of my imagination of condensation build up. sort of like when a non water resistance watch is left in water. eventually it evaporates. the stealership wouldnt replace my dash said water is normal. are they serious? besides i dont want to start from 0 miles. the dash is electronic they really cant set it to what you had?

It looks like acid ate the surface...

Dash Protection

Just a heads-up that you can protect your dash moving forward by using a template to create a plastic cover (similar to phone screens).

You can find the original template that fits the Panigale dash here : http://www.swirled.de/FTP/Dashboard_TFT_Cover.pdf

Credit : I believe "Phil" was the original poster of the template.

Trust this helps.
