Sealed the Deal!

Yeah from what I've gathered there is little room for negotiation with the 1299 being in such high demand right now. I ended up getting an initial trade in offer of $6k for my 2009 GSXR, but after some haggling was able to get $6200 out of it, which helps a small bit on the taxes.

Well guys, I finally stopped by my local dealer this afternoon to finalize the paperwork on my new 1299! :D I'm super excited to say the least and will be taking delivery this Saturday.

This will be my first ever Ducati an I can't wait to experience the torque of the V-twin engine. I traded in my 2009 GSX-R 750, which was a great bike. However, it lacked the appeal of my new sexy italian supermodel.

Just last year, we had a Ducati dealership move into my home town and I have been incredibly impressed with their staff, facility and service (they previously have done work on my GSX-R). I've built a relationship with them over the past few months and it made the decision to pull the trigger on the 1299 much easier.

Tomorrow, my bike will come out of the crate, built and prepped. Only mods planned for now are an under tail elimination kit which I've already ordered. I'll try and post some of my initial impressions after riding this weekend!

L twin.. Congrats though!! Gonna love it. Akra is the best add on you can buy

Sincere congratulations out to you my man!
Nothing beats the feeling of signing that last form and being handed the keys for the bike (with the shops stupid little rubber key chain marketing tool attached to it-lol)

Lots of things are for sure going thru your mind right now - from how you will break it in, to what mods you are dreaming about for the bike before its even officially yours!

These are things I learned long ago NOT to get into with fellow members as there are TONS of threads on here about what best practices are for break in (Just IMHO I broke in every new Ducati like I planned on riding it for the rest of my days- long & hard!) But then - this is ONLY my worthless opinion. And when it comes to mods......well, I have that area pretty well covered if you saw my Tricolore. LOL. (Here to help if you would like) :)

Again, wishing you all the very best with the beautiful new DUCATI of yours man! (just never called them a "Duc" as in "Duck" in my life) LMAO.
Stay safe and congrats on this major purchase - have them put a "Do not sit on" sign on that baby asap too! :)

Guys... this bike is unquestionably AMAZING!!!!!!!! The acceleration is effortless in every gear, the brakes stop with incredible force, the ride is relatively comfortable for a supersport bike and it has looks to kill for.

I am TOTALLY blown away. It is such a step up from my GSX-R 750... not even comparable. The Ducati is truly in a league of it's own. I was able to do about 120 miles today and had a huge grin for every single one of them.

This bike does not like being in traffic whatsoever. It gets hot, the clutch becomes tiring to operate and you need to use a good handful of throttle to engage first. That being said, once you have a nice stretch of open road or twisties, this beast just wants to run.

I've only had it up to 6k RPMs and it has blown my expectations out of the water. I'm absolutely in love and hope to log another 100 miles tomorrow.

Wait until you turn that throttle to the stop

...and don't baby it, after about the third run it's time to open it up and seat those rings good and hard. I'm on my fourth break in run myself and I've had it close to redline several times (short bursts) - nothing but good, not a single puff of smoke

This bike kicks major azz - makes jap bikes feel anemic in the midrange
