Guys

I know (because I read them) there are other threads on this forum that discuss exactly what I'm about to ask but for the last two days I've searched and finally resorted to just asking.

I have a new set of track fairings coming and was curious about a few things. I've seen several folks talk about mating those up before paint and finish so I'm definitely going that route.

1. I found a post on bundling up the headlight wires so I'm assuming it will not throw an error code for that piece. Correct?

2. What is used to delete the rear lights without a code? Again, I've seen this but can't find the answer.

3. Same as above for the kickstand if it is not compatible with the bodywork... what is used to allow the bike to start without the button being pushed?

4. What do I need and where is the best place to buy the quick disconnect for the fuel tank.

5. I'm going to clean the MWR while it is all apart. Any specific recommendations on cleaner and oil? I've got a ton of this stuff for my dirt bike but I guess I want to make sure there aren't any issues using it on my 1199 filter. I would think it is fine but this thing can be picky about some things.

6. What, if anything, do I need to use for the OEM ram air intake to be compatible with the fairings? This was not budgeted so hopefully it mates up with the OEM.

I have fork sliders, rear sliders, and will be getting the TRex engine/frame sliders today. Any other suggestions for protection needed? I've also thought about getting the tank sliders but can't tell if that is necessary with everything else.

As a side note, I ordered the full set of racing fairings (fiberglass since I tend to think it is a little more rigid than the plastic and I know how to repair it) from Godfather Racing in FL. I've seen some negative comments on their stuff from a few years back but messaged with the owner and he is offering a full money back guarantee if they do not meet my expectations. I'm thinking there may be some areas that I reinforce with glass and Kevlar but I'm hoping they are more or less ready to go when I get them.

At just about $400 for the set I figured it was worth a shot. If it works out I'll be getting another set for my wife's 899 and will post a full review on here for those interested.

on mine...unplugged lights with no error codes at all (headlight and rear brake light

for sidestand, I use the plug/ spacer solution from motowheels. Ducati Omaha also has a solution. You could also elect to cut the race fairings to accommodate the sidestand... if you are only doing track days, then this is a good compromise.

your fuel tank already has a quick disconnect for the fuel line

MWR has its own filter cleaning materials/ filter oil...probably the best place to start

race fairings usually come with ram air funnels that will mate with the OE front fairing stay. double check that this is the case with your fairings

tank sliders are good insurance against abrasion, but won't necessarily stop tank from more serious damage. I have the carbon, kevlar tank sliders made by "kneedragger" on this forum...very nicely fabricated...picture attached

no experience with those fairings. In my experience, you get what you pay for on race plastics, but I genuinely wish you the best of luck

quick correction. After you disconnect the rear lights, you wil not get an error code until you try to use it, then the check engine light comes on. Just and FYI. also, if you trace the wire for the front breake, you can disconnect the wire for that to fake out the ECU. Unplug it and wrap it in some tape.

bjorgens, I love what EDR did to your bike.

Thanks so much for the replies.

I thought the stock quick disconnects had a tendency to leak and it was suggested to replace if they were going to be used quite a bit.

Yeah, I get the you get what you pay for argument but I really don't think the plastics are very protective anyways. Hopefully I won't get too burned. I do like your graphics and I'm trying to do something similar that also brings the brushed aluminum look down into the fairings.

Been noodling it for awhile.

never got CE light from rear brake... the brake switch is capped off with a valve stem cap however, so perhaps that is what prevents it

and thanks...EDR does great work!

Herschel.
i've not had any issues with the disconnect, however IIRC motowheels had a metal quick fitting that you could use...

Making a small plug with a 390 Ohm resistor connected between ground and brake line solves this problem.

That's the Ducati part number for the kit that includes the plugs for the headlight, brake light, side stand, and the fan. Costs like 20 bucks if I recall correctly.

Thanks Styler. Steering stops look to be definitely worth the money.

I'm not sure I'm ready to go all in on the subframe and fairing stay. The level of effort to convert back to street seems a bit high at that point. I haven't rode on the street in 9 months but I'd like the option occasionally.
