Its saying files are too large to upload. How can my water pump gear teeth shear completely off? Can installation of a clear clutch cover play into this?

The installation of my clutch cover didnt require me to access anything that is involved with the cooling pump... and they seem to be quite isolated from each other. The mechanics are claiming that my gear being trashed is a result of my clutch cover install... and my fault. I am just trying to wrap my head around this.

Right. They are also fixing it for free under "good faith". Sounds super suspect to me but I'm not sure what to do about it.

Just looked at the V2 maintenance manual. Looks like the new V2 abs the 99s used the same pump and gears so your issue isn’t new and looks to plague the new V2 as it did the old one (nice job in addressing a known issue Duc) anyhow what causes some guys to have gear failures and others to have no issues is a mystery except for obvious issues (engine contamination). Looks like they are covering it. Make sure to get all the plastic out of the motor and since you have had this issue without elucidating the cause, I would keep an eye on it.

No, the clutch cover mod (done even half way correctly) would have no consequence on that situation. You’re good. You in Kailua?

wait.
You have access to the V2 maintenance manual? How? Where?
Would you be willing to share this - happy to pay.
Even if it is only the online version, this could be printed out as a PDF or someother method of capturing a website. Like I say…happy to pay.

I have access to “view only”
Could you screenshot it? Actually that’d be a real PITFA to do it all…ignore that.
How did you get access? It’s a shame they don’t sell it. I paid £80 for my R1’s workshop manual in 1998 - which is equivalent to £145 ($200) now. I’d be happy to pay that for one.

The V2 motor and chassis parts are pretty much the same on the 99's. Only thing they changed was bodywork, frame and electronics. I can shoot over a 1199 manual if needed.

My former dealer lets me look at stuff. As Mick said much of the manual is shared. The engine, chassis, suspension sections are interchangeable with the 959 data. The rear suspension/swing arm data is the same as the 1199.The electronic section and associated panels, brackets etc are new as the new V2 does not use the Mitsubishi engine management system. Bodywork section is of course different. A manual other than the 1199 isn't really necessary unless you cant figure out the body stuff which is pretty simple.
