I was chatting with my R6 buddies and they were saying how the shift clutch less without a quick shift or anything, is it possible to do so on a 1199 or would it mess up the trans or anything?....

Mine, has a quick shift.

You can up shift without using the clutch that's for sure.

You can shift without the clutch on all bikes the have sequential gearboxes
Just need to back off the gas as you change up/down

All dog cut transmissions ie bikes and certain race cars can be shifted up and down
clutchless be doing my whole life

you can actually pull out your car gear into neutral too very easily with almost zero chance of damage... accelerate, let the gas off and then just move the stick into neutral, you will feel if it doesn't want to go.

motorbikes.... as said above, the dog box makes it a peace of cake. I had a friend with a dogbox in his STi. absolute dog thats for sure when stuck in traffic, but you could hammer 400kw through that thing and it never missed a beat.

i'd be worried if you're riding an 1199 and didn't know you could shift without the clutch. Just don't do it the other way (e.g. you can accidentally apply too much unwanted pressure downwards on the lever - think big feet) without a slipper or auto blip. You might lock the rear bad and bye bye.

oh and of course you still need to use the clutch from standstill..

You can upshift without a clutch or a quick shifter by closing the throttle and shifting. You can do the same with downshifting, but its better to close your throttle and at the moment you shift you give a quick blip. It helps to synchronise the gears and will take the jerk out of downshifting.

Sounds like a troll question. If you own a Pani and didn't know that then holy .....

+1. And i don't care what anyone says. I am NOT "downshifting" without the damn clutch regardless of the hardware on it. OH- and thats just MY OPINION TOO! :)

The bike has to be accelerating though.

If you're not accelerating fast enough, you'll get a false neutral or a messy shift. Especially 1-2 and 4-5 (most likely letting off). If you're accelerating hard enough, it's smooth as butter with most bikes.

I've considered adding an auto blipper for downshifts, but that takes some of the fun out of riding a sportbike.
