Let’s face it... he’s not doing well at all, he’s lost and getting old. He’s a back backmarker now...and it’s not going to get any better....Father Time catches up with all elite athletes....

It is a very disappointing and worrisome two weeks. There is no question that he’s off to a horrendous start of the season. His horrible results are compounded by the fact that he historically does well at this track and that the factory Yamaha riders won both races.

On the other hand, it’s one track. Morbidelli—who finished second in the championship last year—didn’t do much better. Also, Rossi is working with a new team. It might take a few races for the team to work well together.

On balance, I think Rossi should definitely be concerned. He should stop talking about racing for two more years and start thinking about the very next race. I think he should make a decision about his return for next season after 6-7 more races.

Now? You mean at the end of the season correct?
He will get a few good races this year and by that I mean maybe a few top tens and maybe even a top 5 but I don’t see any podiums left for him!
Yes he should retire at the end of the year
B
There a lot of fast riders this year including fast rookies on fast bikes not on under develop machines
He’s not the same Rossi anymore .... he is 42 years old.
The guy is doing what he loves and still making a lot of money if I was him why would I retire? He is not Jorge lorenzo, rossi doesn’t have a side modeling job or reviewing hotels around the world
Rossi likes to race (albeit this past 2 races he did it at the back of the whole pack)
On the other hand, Who would be a good replacement?
I hope Garret Gerloff gets a great year on superbikes and maybe gets a call

If Garrett has a good year in WSB, he should get a shot at MotoGP. Too bad Josh Haynes never got the opportunity, besides a single wild card ride. But Rossi is toast, he will not podium anymore and at best he gets a 7 or 8 place now. But most of the time he’s gonna be in the 12 to 17 spot. He’s 42, time to give it up. I remember KR Junior and he was really bad the last few seasons.

.......

I was winning national championships older than he is

I don’t think his age is why he looked like crap last weekend

His bike is pretty much the same spec as the one thst won the race and the same tires....so umm yea, it’s him getting old and not willing to push hard to get that lay 0.3 seconds or his brain can’t process the info as fast anymore. Or both may be true.

My thoughts are...
If he can get back in the top 11, he deserves the spot more than the bottom 11. Hell, if he is faster than anyone on the grid, that slower person needs to go first. Then again, Abraham and Rabat were around much longer than they should have been just because they brought money with them... and Rossi brings ALOT of money to MotoGP/Dorna.
But, if he can't fight for that 200th podium in 2022, he needs to retire no matter his position on the grid

He’s not going to podium this year or next year. He brings money, but the cameras don’t stay locked on 20th place. So the people sponsoring his bike are not getting the media exposure during a race. That’s lots of money to be a back marker
