going to be time for my first fork oil change. For the Showa BPF ,the Ducati panigale manual claims the fork oil is Shell Advance 7.5 or Shell Donax TA. After doing some internet research I read a post saying the Advance 7.5 is for use on the Ohlins forks and the Donax is for the Showas.Now both these fork oil have significant differences in their properties.I`d like to match what the stock oil is as whatever it is works for me.

My question is-does anyone really know what the fork oil is on the stock Showa forks? Based on more research I leaning towards the ProHonda SS-8 (10wt)fork oil which is labelled Developed by Showa as a replacement as it matches the Donax TA very closely.I just dont know for certain if Donax TA is really what is in the fork to begin with.

There’s confusing information in the Manuals regarding what hydraulic fluid should be used in Ducati forks.

Shell Donax TA should only be used in Showa forks.

Shell Advance Fork 7.5 should only be used in Ohlins forks.

The Ducati Owners Manuals and Workshop Manuals fail to make this distinction. They suggest that these two fork oils offer equivalent damping properties. They don’t. They have significantly different viscosities.

Here are the fork manufacturers specified products for Ducati forks:

Showa — Suspension Fluid SS-08 (10 Wt): Measured 36.5 cSt @40C

(Pro Honda SS-8 (10 Wt) Fork Oil is the same fluid)

Ohlins — Front Fork Fluid 1309 (9 Wt): Measured 19.0 cSt @40C

Compare Viscosities:

Shell Donax TA: Measured 34.9 cSt @40C

Shell Advance Fork 7.5: Measured 22.0 cSt @40C

Ducati has over the year) changed the recommended fluid for Ohlins and Showa forks. AGIP was specified before Shell — of course, AGIP was the sponsor for Ducati racing activities before Shell took over — so it's no surprise to see only Shell Products recommended in the Owners and Workshop Manuals.

good;

For the race circuit preparations on Showa BPF forks we use Showa Sr6d4 oil, it is equivalent to an SAE 5 but with more racing qualities than the conventional SS05 or the more modern A15.
If I would recommend that you use Showa oil, in the end it is designed to work with that valve.
