Have a look back at the thread created not long ago re rust to brakes. Link below:

http://ducati1199.com/ducati-1199/3897-rust-front-rotors-but-what.html

Go to the second page and I've posted up some photos of where my front rotors were rusting. Hope that helps.

Ok - saw the pictures, looks like you got lucky and they gave you a new rotor under warranty!

I will have a look and see if mine is doing the same.

Another thing you could have a look for is leaks with in the exhaust pipe especially where there is a connection with the springs close to the outlets, I think mine leaks there and I can see smoke coming out from that region when the bike is cold and smokes. This is something I was going to speak to the dealer about.

Mine's in there now also. Had the dash replaced for same issue. Following works were done:
- Dash Replaced under warranty
- Front brake rotors replaced under warranty (rusting)
- RHS fairing being replaced under warranty as it was melting.

First two issues were resolved really quickly.

Its taken two weeks though because they've had to send the new fairing away to get colour matched and sprayed to match the rest of the bike as apparently Ducati are having issues getting the white pani's to match as there are a few batches!!!

My front rotors are slightly rusted to... Do you think slight rust is sufficient for warranty replacement? How bad we're your?

I have been wondering, why is that every one else a part from every one from the UK are having all these problems? Replacement dashes, rotors and god knows what else..

Am I missing out on something or what?

My dash mists a bit but disappears after a few minutes, do you really need to take it back to the dealers? Same goes with the rotors, they do rust, pretty common, now do you really need to take it back to the dealers to get a new one?

Makes me wonder, am I missing out on something, there are some nuts that have rusted on my bike, should I collar the dealer for that!?!?

While I agree mildly rusty disks are just a part of motorcycle ownership, should I tolerate the fogging in my second dash (Rev E) that now looks like this?

If you look really carefully you can just make out 0 mph.

I rang Ducati's Italian customer services today to ask if they would acknowledge that there's an issue with the 1199 dash and whether the new Rev F display resolves the misting issue. I also asked what would happen if the failures continue after my warranty runs out next April? Would they continue to replace the display under warranty every time it does this? As expected they refused to be drawn on either answer and just said there's no recall associated with the dash. They promised to call me back with an update. I'll keep you updated.

I think it's important that faults such as these are reported to dealers so that Ducati is aware of the true scale of an issue and therefore takes action to resolve it. If your display mists or your indicators/handlebar buttons don't work intermittently then please report it to your dealer.

^ I did with mine with pictures but does not look like yours. Yours look much worse.

I agree that Ducati either fix the issue or still replace after the warranty expire because its like a set of tires or some mechanical after use.

Can you tell me more about that misting? Is that straight after starting your bike? How long does it stay like that?

Mine is slightly less than that but disappears after a few minutes, some thing I thought is alright, I guess I will mention this to my dealer and see what he says I just do not see the point in replacing it yet, the seals are not good enough to keep all the moisture away - probably crappy suppliers.

The display isn't sealed, it has a vent at the back which I suspect is part of the problem. I read somewhere that's it's vented so the ambient temperature sensor will work, but I suspect it more to do with trying to keep the temperature of the electronics under control. I've only had the problem with the left handbar controls once last summer when it was very hot, however the display fogs regularly, it usually starts about 5-10 minutes after the bike is started and persists for hours. The misting happens because the face of the display is cooled by the air flowing over it as you ride and when the air inside the display is warmed by the electronics the moisture it contains condenses on the inside of the display.

Maybe the rumoured solution for the malfunctioning indicators/switch gear, which seems to relocate some of the heat/components outside the display, might have a positive effect on the misting as a consequence of the reduced heating.

That is weired, mine only mists first thing in the morning, after that it is all good. I dont understand why some people are having the problem and some are not..

Slightly off topic, does your exhaust pipes leak? Looks like mine leaks, when I start the bike up I expect to see some smoke coming out of the exhaust outlets but it comes out of the engine bay as well, some small leak in a pipe there some where.

I am wondering... Do people that have the misted dash wash their bikes or ride in the rain?? Dont get me wrong.. dash should be able to deal with these conditions but I am wondering why the difference???

Mine is stored inside and hasn't been ridden in the rain for months. I do wash it, but again is not been washed for a week or two.

Gotcha... well I am just trying to figure why some have the electronic heat related feature and some have the misting... I have the former and I have never washed my bike nor ridden in rain...

All dash related issues are so far safety related, and MUST BE REPORTED WITHOUT DELAY.
The more it's brought to their attention, the sooner they will brush their act up on the dealer level and at DUCATI.
Otherwise it's a magnificent motorcycle.

Brad

Usually Ducati doesn't warrant rust. Apparently I was 'lucky'.

Have a look at the photos I posted on your thread. If its the same or similar I would say give it a go. You can only try.

Hey guys! Just wanted to know the mileage always reset when the dash is replaced and can it be done without going to the dealer?

It's a total joke that the dealer can't program the proper mileage. I work on home generators and the basic $500 controller allows me to modify a new controller with the proper run hours when the old one needs replacement.

I do not know anything about this myself but I have read/been told (when I did my investigations around different ECU flash options) that transfering milages from one dash to another can be done by an official RexXer point. Probably worth checking if you want milages transfered to another dash.

Depends on the year. 2013 and earlier had the mileage stored in the dash, not the BBS. Would not transfer over, you started at 0.

Model year 2014 was half and half, and then end of 2014 and newer can all be reprogrammed with the correct mileage from the Ducati service computer.

NOLA is correct, I had 2x dashes replaced under warranty. I had to call Ducati HQ in Italy because I didn't believe my dealer. I did have Ducati USA to sent me letter stating the dash was replaced under warranty and the miles that the bike had at that time. Just in case if I decide to sell the bike at later date.
