Severe issues with 2023 Panigale V4R. Need help.

..... Thats a big QC issue. Wonder how they didnt see it during the asembly and error checks

So are you using the new engine in these latest posts? Have you went on the 2nd ride?

Your first post is kind of confusing, because you said oil level dropped during your run, which could be expected as having oil that settles on top of the crankcase. That happened from high rpm and the lean angle.

So you stopped while the bike was hot and topped it off, as you mentioned in your first post. You've over filled the bike with oil at this point.

At any kind of "high rpm" regardless of the gear, the drivetrain/crankcase pressure will now throw this excess oil back into the cyclone separator. The way the crankcase breaths through the cyclone separator, its kind of like a snorkel. It's somewhat sealed but uses the same tube to vent and let air in. Think of trying to breath at the surface of water when the snorkel is parallel with the water surface. It sounds funny but with each breath, you would inhale water. Same concept for the engine.

If piston blow by was happening you'd have smoke in the exhaust from burned oil. But you have only oil in the airbox. Everything that's been mentioned points to overfilling the oil. Now the damn dealership - if you can't turn a wrench or fit engine parts yourself you probably shouldn't be riding a V4R - it's too technical of a bike to just point fingers at and say fix this, rider responsibility is expected.

Have you physically confirmed they opened the head for inspection? The dealer wanted you to keep it below 12k on the first 2 gears. They might of been lazy and not done so, telling you to keep the rpm low because they didn't want to deal with oil imbalance.

I was saying to run it above 12k through the first 2 gears, ride it high up into 4th to get the excess oil that you topped off with, off the cams and down into the sump.

But anyways that's on the old engine - what's up with this new engine and the rode you went for yesterday? Shouldn't have any oil issues now?

Its not related to overfilling at all. I didnt fill the oil in middle of riding. I have read the entire manual as well as the workshop manual. I only fill oil when the bike is supercold by keeping it straight and then checking current oil level. Please read the full post. TLDR, tested the bike on track again today, all expenses incurred by DMH. They chexked several paramters and confirmed something is wrong with the engine, as there was a blowby for 65ml of oil and white smoke coming out from the exhaust. They said they will send this engine back to Italy and replace it under warranty. Unfortunately Ducati Italy doesnt like to tell you what went wrong. So wont know what got wrecked.

Did Ducati come back to you yet?

Hi everyone. I am facing a back to back issue with my 2023 V4R. I am writing a detailed report here on the problems that I faced, hoping someone would be able to help me out, and so that it helps others. I bought the v4r on July 2023 and at 500 odd km before the first service, the engine check light popped up. Upon taking the bike to dealership, they said that its an engine failure and will need a full replacement under warranty. I was fine with it. They replaced the engine within 1 week and I got the bike back. I rode around 1000km on the new engine, while following the engine break-in (below 8k rpm) as mentioned in the manual. No issues so far. During the first service for this new engine again, I purchased the underseat akra exhaust and they flashed the Racing Evo. I purchased the Racing Pro DTC flash seperately. Post this, I rode the bike for 50 odd km around 10k rpm on all gears and didn't find any issue. I took the bike to track, and while ripping the bike to it's shift indicator, the bike started leaking oil of around 15-20ml from the breather pipe behind the front tyre. I saw that the oil level had gone down. I asked the dealership and they said its fine, as its a racing bike. After topping it up, I rode the bike again on track, for around 40-50km, and there were oil sprayed on the frame of the bike (below the tank), and around 100-200ml of oil leaking from the breather pipe again. The oil level had gone down considerably. I sent it to dealership again, as the oil on the frame was concerning. They asked me for DDA. I didn't record any, but I told them that the bike only leaked oil when I was in higher RPMs. I touched 331kmph on track, as well as had a lean angle of 57 degrees. They said it could be a blowback issue, but also said that when they installed the engine back, there could be a possibility that air filter gasket, water pump and oil seal for the clutch might not have been fully sealed. So they opened the fairings and saw that the oil was leaking from the airbox too. They said that there is a possibility that the cyclone seperator might have pushed the blowback oil/fumes into the airbox due to high rpm pressure. Also the sprint filter was soaked in oil. They decided to change all the gaskets, reinstall clutch cover, refill the oil, change all oil seals, replaced the cyclone seperator and sent it back again. They also kept the oil level in the engine to min just to make sure they dont overfill. I took the bike to track again but rode it a bit on the easier side this time. Maxed to 300kmph, and lean angle of just 45, changing all gears above 11000 rpm, but no redlining. Oil leak again from the same places. The Airbox sprayed the oil on the frame, air filter got soaked with oil, and the breather pipe was throwing oil of around 100ml again. The oil level went below minimum. Luckily I also enabled DDA this time, as dealership asked for it. I sent the bike again last week to them.
They reverted back saying there is no oil leak from any seals. They said the only possibility is that the blowback is originating from the cyclone seperator due to high-rpm usage on the first 2 gears (which they saw in the DDA as I was changing gears at 14-15k rpm), into the airbox which is normal. They asked me to test the bike again this week, while keeping the first 2 gears below 12k rpm, and the remaining gears can be used normally to see if the leak happens again. I will test the bike again this weekend now.
To be honest, I do not understand their logic at this point. But this is the response from Italy. I love the bike and its character, so I do not want any stupid responses asking me to sell the bike. I want to understand technically what could be the possible issues for this, any ways to fix this. Because if Italy themselves is saying its normal, then I might've done a big mistake buying this. FYI, I have a Streetfighter v4s 2022 with full akra, and I do not have any issue on that while being ridden in a similar way. Just frustrated at this point, and any technical support here will be very helpful. Has anyone else faced this issue?

Haha. I had the same issue. Except did my own tear down, they forgot to tighten the front right ignition coil. Pain in the ... to get to.

Yeah. Ducati is hit or miss. It can be a great track bike if they have better QC.

It’s usually the dealer goons who work on the bike screwing up something or everything.

Every single time. Here's a picture from whe a mechanic who was Changing the seal for the oil pressure bolt (in front of sprocket, to adjust amount of oil going to your clutch plates) forgot to tighten it. Not sure how you check the pressure then forget tightening it, but it almost killed me on Easter 2022. First ride, it got a little squirmy, chalked it up as cold roads, next left turn, ... leaves the catches throwing me in the air. No idea how I saved it. Look behind me, green motul EVERYWHERE. It all happened pretty quick, landed looked behind shut down and coasted into an abondones house. I had to pay $600 for there mess up, even stopped payment and they fought it! Said me pulling the bolt out sealing up the threads then hand tightened it back on so it wouldn't leak in my ( then) horse trailer. Horses can't lick oil! They had my bike allll summer to get the tool to check oil pressure, from Ducati, then said I couldn't take my bike unless I payed for it. Complete ......... That about squashed my Ducati pride. But I stayed and now shame the dealer. MOTOHIO in Columbus ohio. So many riders around here hate that place. They broke the radiator fins that push down when you steer, which they said it Wil be fine and the steering locked up while I was riding, my bike came back missing washers and bolts EVERY SINGLE TIME. Then says to me " we all lose things working on our bikes in the garage. I know we put everything back" All I could think was, you have NO CLUE how meticulous I am. They also couldn't fix my S1K WHEN I had a hack engine light just like this guy. Ended up lemon lawing it. These dealers need help! They are not paying these mechanics enough. Just grabbing any foot who works on lawnmowers.

Ducati QC is atrocious. My bike came with the wrong forks. That should never happen. Ducati wasn’t even concerned or apologetic. If that happened with a Japanese manufacturer, the entire team involved in the assembly of the bike would do seppuku

Well, my BMW S1000RR 2019 came with leaking front brake calipers, how's that for a change ?

oh and on top, they had to replace an oil cooler as well.

luckily I didn't have ignition coil issues...but I saw many upset mates that had it on day 1 of 3 days event at Portimao

After all the things I've seen I decided not to sell my zx10r. Its full carbon stage 2 maxed out and was about to sell it but then decided to keep it looking at these issues.

Yes. They got the new engine installed, and had to complete the run-in of 600miles again. Just completed that today. No issue so far. Will get the akra installed next week and then rip it once on track to see if its fixed.
