i know if i repeat something on here i get use the search feature from about 7 people.

well its my turn. melting rear hugger has been discussed many times when the new heat shield came out.

running temps i did a full review when i changed to engine ice about 3 years ago.

now i know the search sucks but really these things have been discussed so many times

you 1299 guys guess what its the same bike as the 1199 we already went through this.

Or new comers to the forum with a 1299 that look under the 1299 section could post what they'd like to about their 1299.

I get what you're saying, and I try to research and search the forums before asking (PMing active members works too), but no need to flame guys that are having legitimate concerns about their rides. Same goes for guys that want to post something they've done to share with the group.

It is very much the same bike, and there have been times where people have bought something or used something that would seemingly be a carry-over product, and wasn't. How do you know that the ECU hasn't been programmed to kick fans on at a different time? How do you know that there isn't a different material in the heat shield that causes specific issues? How do you know that the thermostats being used aren't for different temps?

I'm guilty as anyone for letting things bug me, but I try to adopt the "live and let live" thing when I'm on Internet forums especially. And if you think the search function sucks online, try it on the TapTalk app. Fml.

Hey, what are the 1199 still doing on here anyway, it's the 1299 forum

Get outta here with your vintage ....

Duh

:D

I just use water wetter or whatever because regular coolant can't be used on a track. My garage is heated during the winter so I don't have to worry about the engine block freezing and cracking.

I really want to ask how does the 1299 feel after the running service but its probably been asked a million times about the 1199 lol.

If you don't like repeat threads just don't open them. Pretty simple. You remind me of a friend of mine years ago who was talking about restaurants. He said "well, the first few times we went there we really didn't like it that much".

I never understand why people open a thread then take the time to post that the topic has been beat to death. If everyone searched every topic a forum would cease to exist about six months after a new model came out.

thought this would be a good place to post. when I'm riding in hot weather in the city, the heat under the seat becomes unbearable. Has anyone else experienced this? What solutions are there?

Like I have said before, there is only so much .... to talk about on bikes.

If we don't talk about specs, tires/wheels, exhausts, chain/sprockets, suspension, bodywork, fuel/mpg, oil/oil changes, there isn't much left.

There aren't THAT many different parts or aspects of bikes to discuss. You are bound to have the same .... popping up over and over.

Speaking of the same ...., I don't think I have ever seen a useful post from the OP on this forum. Nothing but bitching.

Don't get me started gents!!!!

I was the "Do a Damn Search" Kind until my eyes fell out seeing so many dam double posts, and they actually came in one right after another which to me meant things were not being read here - tunnel vision does WHAT to you on the racetrack guys??

You saw my response to the "This is a 1299 comment" - **Actually that guy and myself spoke and he turns out to be a really cool guy who was just misdirected thats all. But I am 110% on board with my brother from The Island, Mark!

And I call Total BS that Engine Ice is just hype and a gimmick! I've been using that since probably 2000 and I don't give a flying dog turd what any of you squids say - the stuff works VERY well IMHO. (And yes Flo- you were right there that day of the fiasco trying to get that stuff into the radiator BUT were you there with us when we tried getting the stupid MWR Filter into my bike?? THAT was a total goat rope which Mark will agree to I know! Ya see, these are all the things WE did when WE broke the mold on the 1199 and all the attempts at "DIY" service aspects! Correct me if wrong?

And as far as Marks comments on duplicate posts and "SEARCH" stuff - I thought that was what "Stickies" were made for by our great Mods who collected all this info and placed it all in one location so that all the new folks could thumb thru it all and read about the "Heat, bar ends, stripped screws and bolts, etc etc etc......." READ & SEARCH MY FELLOW "NEWER" MEMBERS" Its good to have ya and your 1299's! :)

I agree fully with the fact that engine ice works great. No gimmick, prior to getting my bike filled replaced with engine ice, i would ride next to JeffD on his 1199 (his bike with engine ice) and his bike, same shift, same temp, humidity etc was running on average 10-12 degrees F cooler... sold me on the idea right then

I tried putting ice on my engine but it just melted and didn't seem to help at all with the heat so I sold my 1199S and bought a 1299S instead. Its much cooler.

i wonder why the ice just melted when you put it on the engine :eek:

Have you attempted to put ice on your 1299 yet to see if it also melts? :D
