It was a tough decision, I will say. I rode an SP for a second time and could not believe how much fun I had. I had to do it. Smoother, more practical with a smile from ear to ear.
If you haven't ridin a new Hyper SP. Please do so, it's amazing!!
The panigale will be missed, but I was to comfortable on it, wheelies, top speed runs out through the desert... It had to go.

Congratulations on the new steed! I test rode one at Daytona Bike Week and while I was very excited to do so, personally I was let down by it. Perhaps it was the test route we did, but the motor was too disappointing after living with the 1199 and a 14-tooth front sprocket. If I lived near the mountains, I would very likely have a different opinion though.

I am considering the same switch.

Did you ever sort out all the problems with your 1199? I talked to Huel the other day and he was rebuilding yet another 1199 motor. He's become quite the expert at those as this is his 6th 1199 motor rebuild.

danamite14.... DO IT!
Jeff i do miss the Panigale power to, but the fun factor is just to awesome!
There are 2 things I dont like about the bike.
1 is the throttle spring to light
2 is the cluster, I miss the color display and gear indicator lol

I would like to find a different bar, something maybe a bit more straight.

I did notice the throttle return spring was very light when I rode it. The handling and flickability were just crazy at speeds below 80, I can't believe it weighs more than the 1199. You're right about the cluster too, it was hard to read on the bright sunny day I test rode it.

I also rode a Streetfighter 848. That had a lot more power but similar handling to the Hypermotard, and it was my favorite of the test rides during the week: Hypermotard, MTS, Diavel and Monster 1100.

That is crazy! I did. It's finally back in my garage. I honestly love my bike...I just feel like time is ticking and its a now a race to have as much fun as possible before it has to go back in the shop for another warranty job. These '12s man...

I haven't ridden the hyper yet...just read reviews. I test rode an Fz-09 during bike week. That thing left me craving a more upright ride. I've been on sport bikes for years.

Glad you got the bike back and hope it doesn't let you down again. Sorry to say I have a 2012 also and it has been excellent to me in 7,500 miles since April of last year. No smoking, no head leaking (Huel just checked over Bike Week when I was test riding the other Ducs) or anything else other than the known TSBs, which they handled perfectly. Seems like you got a Friday bike :(

If you're not busy on Saturday (April 5), take a drive over to Ocala and Melillimoto Ducati/MV Agusta. They are having their Monster 1200 launch party and I'm scheduled to test ride the new Monster and 899 back to back in the AM. They also have a Brutale 800, Brutale 800 Dragster and the new Rivale just got uncrated last weekend. Those could be good options for upright, comfortable, super-fun bikes. I'm leaning towards the MV Agusta as a potential stable mate...

Call over there and see what test ride slots he has still available: (352) 307-0299

i had the 2013 Hyper before the 2013 1199. loved it, but it just didnt have that break away speed i cant get enough of. if i lived in the mountains like someone else said, it may have been different since 1st, 2nd, and 3rd are very very fun...4th 5th and 6th are very boring and here in FLA its too straight for that. plus i had the bike mastered and couldnt stop the 3-5 mile 3rd gear wheelies on the back peg. hahaha

Hmmm.......

Been looking at one of these as a possible replacement for my Triumph Sprint ST (the other candidate is a Triumph Speed Triple RR). I know there are hard bags availalble. They make the HyperStrada but it doesn't have the suspension bits I want.
Would like to hear a review on it once you've done some long(er) distance days.

I would have done that exact same switch.....except instead, I'll be on one of these in a week or two. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

A very good choice if I could have anothe 2 bikes it would be 1 hypermotard 2 streetfighter

You should see them flying in the Dolomiti they are having so much fun so fast in the twisties.
My husband is urging me not to take the Panigale to the Dolomiti this year as he thinks it will be awkward in the hairpins but ohhh how nice will it look and sound reverberating off those pink hued mountains
Enjoy and please do come back and update us on your new ride, oh and if mine breaks down it will get a kicking from Italy to England!
