Solution to hard starts

Thats funny though. I never disconnected my cable and on two occasions now I have had a hard time starting it.

Picked up my Panigale last May 10, 2012. Used it for 300kms...no hard starting issues at all. Removed and disconnected Flapper valve and still had no starting issues. When I reached almost 2,000kms, hard starting issues started happening after every long ride at most times. Thinking it was a mapping issue, I purchased Termignoni Slip-ons and uploaded new map (UP-Map).

Now I have 2,485kms on my bike, termi slip-on installed and hard starting is still there...took me 4 tries to get it started....meaning, one try is: turn ignition on, hit starter button, engine cranking for at least 4 seconds BUT not firing up. Then I turn off ignition, then turn on ignition, hit starter button, engine cranking etc..not firing. I did that process 4 times on the 5th time is started. Happens very frequently when Hot after a ride or after loading gas at a station.

Very embarrasing at times to fellow riders and admirers of this New Panigale.

Hope Ducati can address this problem right away....I love everything about the bike...doesnt give me any problems except for this Hard Starting Issue.

It is not a fix to the real problem but when hot starting I crack the throttle open just a smidge (<--technical term) and push the starter button, hold the throttle in the same position until she starts.

I just love how the password (service) for that shop computer is there for all to see. Too funny.

.....
Had the bike serviced yesterday at 920 miles (rode 250 miles yesterday with a total of 1100+ now) :) and though my tech asked if I wanted him to check anything else out I declined, anxious to go get some real riding done. (surprised his diognostics didnt detected my Ex vavle situation)
;)

Apparently from the Owners manual, the error decription which could appear on the instrument panel does not include EX valve error.

So would'nt be suprise is not picked-up by the DDS either.

I had the hard start issue and dropped bike off at dealer. They installed a new mapping that fixes the issue. I have only had the bike back for a day now but seems like they have fixed it.

I also notice the bike accelerates a bit differently and I now have some white smoke on startup.

Will keep you posted if the problem comes back.
