Gonna let off some steam....

1. .... design on hose clamps, leaks of rad fluid.

2. Having ABS parts on a bike that doesn't have ABS.

3. Brake pads in the rear are ...., fell out in 4 pieces. Pad had completely fallen apart, the only reason it stayed in was the caliper's position.

4. Lightech, not a big issue but fix your brake throw, the angle is off when 50% compressed by brake lever, watch out and leave 2-3MM of play.

Done, sorry, I love my bike but I hate fixing .... I shouldn't have to.

This is what a forum is for! Let off some steam, AND share some good info. Your bike is what a lot of people on this forum hope to achieve. Keep up the good work, and get to the track! She deserves it ;)
 
That's nothing man, I have;

* Leaking clutch cover, onto exhaust
* Leaking clutch reservoir
* Continual smoke on startup
* Neutral all but impossible to find when running
* False neutrals when using DQS
* Screen fogging so bad it's sometimes unreadable
* Flagged for swingarm bolt recall
* Just received my second recall letter
* Extremely rich running despite a 'high flow filter'

Despite all that I'm not angry and absolutely love it! Only mods so far are Termi slips, some carbon bits. Got a Powerbronze screen to fit and a BMC filter which hopefully will take care of the rich running...
In having all of the above attended to, hopefully will get it back soon...
 
I think it's kinda funny. I don't know why but I seem to constantly hide behind the ' It's a Ducati and it needs tender love and care to run ( and keep running ) properly'. In a way this is BS... I wouldn't take this from a Honda bike yet the Panigale is about twice the price...

I love the Panigale but quality should really really be on a higher level...

What ABS parts are on your bike? Seems weird they woud do that unless they are common parts to both ABS & non-ABS systems.
 
Please explain #4. What is this causing?

Reason I ask is I have lightech rearsets and haven't noticed anything with the rear brake... To be fair I rarely use it.

1. Engine leaking oil from the crankcase. Going in for a new engine next week.

2. Ohlins steering damper bushing fell out.

3. Termi can leaking at the seam.

4. Suspension still beating me up despite respring.

...and I still love it!

Threads like this scare me a bit, but every vehicle line has issues of some type.

What ABS parts are on your bike? Seems weird they woud do that unless they are common parts to both ABS & non-ABS systems.
I believe the only thing missing is the ABC control module? All of the other sensors and wiring is in place. It was probably more cost effecting to just remove the control module than create a separate wiring harness for the non- ABS bikes?
 
I think it is important to remember that no two bikes are the same, even though they should be when coming off a production line. I have 4000+ miles and 4 track days on my Panigale since I bought it this year and have not had any of the problems mentioned in this thread. In fact, the only issue I have had since taking the bike off the show floor is my left rear turn signal not working for a little bit which was immediately remedied when I swapped in the Comp Werkes tail tidy. Pretty minor I would say. What does it mean? Well it is important to consider that Ducati's production line is not fully automated; there are human beings involved in the assembly of your bike and human beings make mistakes.

Don't get me wrong, that is no excuse and Ducati should definitely be doing serious evaluation of their QA team as well as their Assembly team when things like these happen, but I wouldn't say it's cause for us Pani owners to run to the hills. I would say that by and large the bikes are coming off the line with everything in place and no serious production quality issues, but it is unfortunate when things occur like the problems that b1six and Hamish have shared.
 
My issues have been fairly minor.

Did have false neutrals for the first several hundred miles using DQS. Part of the problem was the shift lever was up too high. During the 1st Service I had the tech lower the lever, giving me more leverage and have only had one false neutral since (between 5th and 6th).

Clutch needed to be bled twice; front brake once (came with air from the factory - or I suppose the dealer who prepped the bike?). Easy, 5 min. fix.

Cable recall fix.

Bodywork bolts have rattled off. I recommend some loctite blue.

Dealers overfilled crankcase during both the 600 and 7500 Mile servicing.

High speed (150mph+) weave (I'm hoping original tires were the cause).

Engine has died 3 times on its own--all when pulling in the clutch around 30mph. Revs just sink to 0.

Overall there's nothing that I would consider out of the ordinary, nothing that would make me think twice about buying another Ducati.

I had them lower the shift lever too, it seems to be an issue of having larger feet (I'm a size 12) as my shorter friends with smaller feet that ride the Pani do not have this issue. False neutrals disappeared for me as well once the shift lever was lowered.

Yep... that's true. It makes sense to have all the ABS equipment on all bikes from a production standpoint.

From what I heard, only North American Panigales have ABS as an option. All others have the ABS standard. I feel we are lucky to have the option of not paying for it if we don't want to.

Plus, if you ever want ABS on your bike... I haven't researched it but, I bet the little ABS brain that mounts on the upper right side of the bike could be had for less than the $!K you pay for it when new.

Might be missing the brake lines that run tot the module as well... Can't confirm because I don't have one in front of me.
 
Mine is simply perfect, and after my BMW which I also thought was perfect, this is up there with the same quality. Dealer has been exceptionally good, recalls are very minor issues, and the bike is far superior to my older Dukes.
I am a happy chappy
 
2900+ miles and counting. Both aggressive and easy riding Not one issue yet except for the recalls
 
Hmm. Luckily I have not had ONE frigging issue since the day I got it in May! And believe me, since that first day I have ridden the piss outta it using every damn feature and setting imaginable. I shall keep adding parts and accessories until there is nothing left to buy too!

You might want to check into this, but I am under the impression that some of the ABS parts are needed for the traction control. Parts like the front reluctor ring, and ABS/speed sensor.

Same here my Tri Colore is running great, been to the track a lot and riding the piss out of it also,And I'm going racing it this weekend ,I love this bike,my S1000RR hasn't been out since my try show up.
 
Got my 1199 a month ago, it has 800 miles on it and have had no issues whatsoever. I think its partially because I rode the bike hard from day one. Ya gotta break these things in the right way..
