Nobody, myself included, is going to be able to change an air filter and notice a difference. An air filter MIGHT add 1-2hp, and nobody can notice 1-2hp on a bike that makes over 180hp to begin with. Nobody's butt dyno is that good, mine included.
But I see it all the time on every forum "change the air filter and man the bike is so much better" or "bike pulls so hard after the new air filter". I have to call BS on that, unless the OEM filter was completely blocked off and NO air was getting past it.
The same can be said for just about any individual modification. Nobody is going to change several bolts to Ti, or put Ceramic Bearings in the wheels, or change to a lightweight battery and then be able to notice a difference in speed/lap times.
Any of those little things in an of themselves wont make a big difference, but they are all pieces of the puzzle that make a good race bike. On a street bike, I wouldn't bother until it is time for a new filter anyway.
