im looking at sprockets

does aluminum sprocket wear out alot quicker and what brand you guys think are the best?

whats the difference besides weight from magnesium vs alloy quick change carrier?

Load bearing magnesium parts such as wheels have a shelf life unlike alloy. I assume the carrier would be the same.

The weight in the carrier would never be noticed like it would with wheels so I would stick to to the alloy option.

As for wear alloy will last for quite a long time and you will be up for chain and sprocket replacement either way in the long term.

The harder you ride the quicker the wear! Pull wheelies and do lots of standing start drag racing and you will change this stuff every 6000 klm.

Ride like this only occasionally and you would expect to change this stuff every 12000 klm to maintain sharp response and performance. IMHO

Long time Ducati owners correct me if I am wrong, beside the obviously easier sprocket change, isnt one of the advantages of the aftermarket carriers the elimination of the problems associated with the drive cushions backing out?

Never had that problem on my previous Ducati which I put 56000 klm on although I did replace the cush drive once wear was noticed! From memory around 20 -25000 klm mark.
