This is correct. At Snetterton where I normally haunt I can confirm there is a static test first (102db limit but varies with track and organiser!). The guy at the testing booth aknowledged the Panigale in general, no specific model, as being inconsistent to test. A lot has to do with the acoustics rebounding off of the tarmac due to the low level exhaust, but also because of where the exhaust port is you also get a lot of engine noise too.
2015 Panigale R = 112db followed by "Well I'll let you on, but you may have to be pulled". Needless to say I spent the whole day there with no further issue on ride-by's, didn't even drop the throttle.
112 db wow. That confirms my initial impression of the 15R when we fired it up. I couldn't believe it got by DOT/EPA requirements as loud as it is. Do you know what the Akra db level is?
