Was just looking at the 2015 Isle of Man site. Was trying to look at the rider profiles.

Could not for the life of me figure out how to sort by Manufacturer...

Does anyone know if there are any Panigales this year? Seems like last year was dominated by Japanese bikes. I don't recall seeing a single Ducati... But I could be wrong...

Sorry for misspelling Question in the title. Editing it didn't offer me the opportunity to correct that.

I think that the Isle Of Man is such a "top end" circuit, that the Japanese fours tend to be the weapon of choice, as well,as the BMW S1000RR RR, that's not to say that the new 2015 Panigale 1199R COULDN'T be competitive, it's probably that the fours have been so dominant recently and are such a known commodity, that developing a Ducati to be competitive would be a hell of an undertaking, especially since the factories aren't really involved.

The extreme speed and horrible road condition would probably shake our frameless Panigales apart.

Have discussed this one a few times since the 1199 & general feeling is

1) Lack of factory interest/support (both BSB & TT)
2) The geometry is too focused for road racing.

You see some incredible footage of bikes out of shape, particularly off the high speed jumps (Crosby, Rhencullen, Quarry, Ramsey), I suspect the Panigale would be pretty demanding in those situations!

The Big 4 manufactures have been running the TT for years with good results so without factory support its probably too time consuming and costly to use the Pani. Pani would probably snap your arms off and beat you with them without some serious track time and setup beforehand.

The IOM is notoriously hard on engines. I4 is the way to go.

Huge topend full throttle track. And the bumpy track transmits harsh impacts right to the rotating assembly of the engine. Full throttle loads+high rpm loads+giant Ducati Pistons+bumpy straights=kaboom.

Sure someone could do it on a vtwin, but it's not the best choice by a mile.

I believe they ran them in 2012 and 2013, but as they no longer appear then I'm guessing they weren't very successful or well suited for the TT......
