Hi guys,

My lower rad sprung a leek due to a stone damaging it,so ordered a new rad and a full set of Samco hoses as iv been told this along with Engine Ice will lower the temp during road use. My main question is there anything I should/shouldnt be doing when fitting them, and pointers for bleeding & flushing old coolant. I have been warned about the two small hoses deep under tank that are a pia to fit,so may leave these to a later date.

Thanks in advance :D

I would recommend the Samco clip kit too! Far better than the OEM ones. And Samco gives warranty only if used with their rounded INOX clips.

One Samco clip is too wide for one hose connector (as you described as deep under the tank :) ). I bought a narrow INOX clip in the local hardware shop for this location.

Save your money on the engine ice and get water wetter or isopropyl alcohol to act as a surfactant. Note that it won't provide anti-freeze protection (which is all the engine ice will do) so use your judgement if you're in a cold weather area.
Propylene Glycol doesn't run cooler. It just has a higher boiling point than water. If you''re changing out hoses for greater cooling efficiency, note that water has a much higher heat transfer efficiency than glycols. Alcohol (the primary ingredient in water wetter) acts as a surfactant to reduce cavitation hot spots in the motor.

Whats the easiest way of bleeding the rads to remove any trapped air?

Rads actually bleed quite easily, fill 'em up, start the motor and let it run 'til the fan starts, let it cool down, refill if needed and you're done.

I just switched my hoses. I like the look. I can't say I saw a difference in temps. Definitely looks better. I feel more confident about not having a leak.

I reckon you are wasting your time with the Engine Ice. I tried the Motul McCool version and could not detect a difference. I think the Samco will look cooler though
