Tank Pads......

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

dunno the install instructions on the shift tech, but it's probably a good idea to leave a small gap at the bottom of the tank pad, this will allow any moisture to drain out, I think I may get this shift tech one.

Hi Guys

Here is a pic of a tank pad I just fitted.

Having seen the std Ducati item I fancied something different.

This went on so easily I though I'd cocked something up..!

Anyways, the guy I got it from, has loads of other styles at a very pleasing £15.

I know it won't be everyones cup of tea but it's just another (of many) option(s).

See Ya'll........

Dear Mod: If I've trod on forum toes with the e-bay link please just remove the link. Thanks.

Good fit. I had a clear DP guard buble up. Went with carbon and really just not enough coverage. I bagged it completely and went with the 3M tank protectors.

Used Tec Spec center pad, right and left tank pads as well as fairing pads (near the knee areas). Looks really nice and have received many, many complements. The juicy Italian roadster keeps its savy look and the groin/knee grip areas are absolutely grip-able and protect the beast.

Just for info.. the DP tank pad is a known issue... there were big issues with the glue and they knew about it... I personally went through two !! Always bubbles.... anyhow do a reclaim as Ducati know about this... the dealer said bring it back and they will refund....

This was discovered at a meeting in Italy where a few discussed the topic and everyone went:eek:

Take it back and you will get a refund.....

I must be one of the lucky ones with the Ducati DP tank pad. I have had it on for 2 months so far with no issues. I will report back of it starts to pull up. I put it on when it was warmer and now it is fairly cold out in the Washington DC area. Maybe it will start to tear up when it gets warmer out again?

Cool, How bout some pics?

I got the DP pad installed by the dealer and its lifted from day one. I just keep pressing it back down until I decide what to replace it with.

Looks Good !!

Seen another carbon tank pad on carbonworld.de.

Spent a good 45 mins on this site this am (seems all I do is research on carbon!) and found that tank pad mentioned above which looks cool.

carbonworld.de - Tankpad Carbon fr Ducati Panigale 009DP

Gotta give it to Carbonworld for a decent website which includes mounting videos on their items which believe it or not do help!
Since I abhor the matte finish they also offer a decent line of glossy stuff for me too. Anyone try out the carbon brake / clutch reservoir mounting brackets yet? Wonder if they sync up without issues.

Too bad my new friend at Shift Tech does not have a stockroom full of glossy gear since I have found him to be extremely informative and educated when it comes to any carbon manufacturers and quality. Great connection for all yoo's guys who like matte / satin finish, and better yet he is right here on this forum to answer in on threads too! :D

Carbon is the final touch to my Tri build which has been sponsored by so many reputable companies which we all know and love. Once complete and professional photos taken I will be putting it up for view here and "other" forums which I ride in. Hoping all your winter projects are coming along well .

Semper Ride!

Gunny

My DP tank pad looks and works great. still on perfectly since July!

honestly i like the many designs of the tank pads, however i hate the way they look on the bike. i feel it makes the bike look bad. i had the clear ducati one but clear is never totally clear. i have this one now but its not on my bike its on my fridge. my bike is wrapped with paint protection xpel ultimate so no need for a tank pad for me.

Dealer told me Ducati is replacing ones sold over the past year due to the fact they are not staying in place. Just need to bring it in for a swap. Check with your dealer.

I have the DP Carbon tank pad, I even moved it down after a few days. 300 miles, so far so good, sticks well and didnt seem to hurt my paint....

According to my dealer the Ducati Performance Carbon tank pads that are sold now are fine. He had to replace a few pads in the last year but the new batch seems to be ok.
Maybe this is only because it is very cold at the moment and nobody is riding...

This is what I have and I love it! Just wish it was gloss but still love it!:D

I have just received my one directly from Lieb-Speed in Germany. I just need for the temp to move up a bit and will replace my DP Pad with this.

glad I used the search function ;)

I completely forgot about this tank guard and since I"m keeping the pani I find myself in need of one!

Here is a carbon one:), real panel of carbon NOT a sticker.
Perfectly molded to fit the 1199 tank perfectly, secured with special 3M thin double sided tape that is included.

oem carbon looks best but application is tricky. Have had to use painters tape to help with the edges while its sits overnight. Still don't know if it will hold in the long run. On my second one. First one was clear and it didn't stay. Still need to bring it back to get it swapped or credited, but it looks bad from removal. Hope they don't turn me around for $30.

I bought the DP clear pad and it never adhered well, gave up on it and trashed it.

I have the rigid tank protector shift tech makes on my SF so think the one they make for the pani will be perfect.

Will be going for the new DP pad mentioned in the new performance catalog. Partnr is 97480041A. The ST carbon is way too much pad for me, much too large.
