Can you guys post some pictures of your Panigale with the tank protectors? I want to order a pair for my 1299S and I need your input before I spend my hard earned cash and get junk. As always, thank you.

I got the Tech Spec protector kit. If your legs are of any length you'll want a portion to protect the middle fairing by your knees because they WILL contact it. I like the kit because they can be easily repositioned if need be.

Edit: I don't know why my pic is upside down...

Purchased from one of the members of this forum who manufactures them.
(Note: that little black thing on top of the tank has nothing to do with anything; its just a blue-tooth speaker for some tunes while I drink my coffee and slowly wake up and prepare for the track day.)

Are we talking about tank CRASH protection or the belt guard type protection?

Good question DLIT.
If we are talking about the Belt buckle guard type, I went with something alot different than the black carbon like one this time around.

Amazon.com: DUCATI 1199 PANIGALE R Real Silver Carbon Fiber tank Protector & red sides knee pads: Automotive

Didnt use the gas cap cover thing, but did use the knee guard pieces which actually look kinda sharp on the tank-which surprised me! The Silver guard gives things a bit of an offset appearance which I liked. Not one for wanting things the same as everyone else out there. Which MAY even mean a whole different paint job by "you know who" one of these days! :)

If we're talking about the knee grippy things for the track, I've had both TechSpec and Stompgrip on my 1299. The TechSpec look better but came off about halfway through the first track day. Would not recommend. StompGrip are uglier but work way, way better and haven't come unglued.

If we're talking about crash protection - I'm interested but am wondering if the gas tank is identical between the 1199 and 1299? I think they are butt ugly but my bike is track only at this point so maybe it's worth the investment for the additional protection...

I've run Stomp Grip. Ugly, but they do a great job. I'm looking for the crash protection on the tank. I'm at Roebling Road this weekend doing Nate Kern BMW weekend and my race bodywork is not on yet. I'm going to try and be cool with the OEM bodywork on the bike. I'm prone to tuck the front end a couple times a year, either in practice or a race, and I was looking at the tank and those sharp edges. Who is the person on here that manufactures tank sliders/protectors? Thank you.

I think zohsix01 is the guy to contact. I ordered a set of Kevlar tank sliders from England and they didn't help much during a crash. I have a new set on the way from zohsix01, guys speak highly of the ones he has. A great guy with quality stuff for sale!

As far as grip stuff, Stompgrip is the best.

As far as crash protection, the Kevlar sliders aren't necessarily designed to prevent damaging the tank in a crash, they are meant to prevent the tank from creasing or having a hole worn in it from sliding...to prevent fires.

Race orgs required tank sliders on the 06/07 R6's because the edges of the tank stuck out further than the frame. And there were several fires that resulted from what should have been normal lowsides.

This what a crashed tank slider looks like . Without it the tank would have ruptured .
