Tank side protection needed?

I have now done nearly 200 miles on my 1199 and just noticed when I parked up after another brief ride in the sun during what must be the wettest draught ever known to man in the south east of England, that there is slight scoring where my knees are hitting the tank sides. Clearly it will polish out but could start to dull the otherwise lovely paintwork. The answer could be a couple of clear plastic protectors stuck to the side of the tank, but has anyone else noticed this or is it just me and slightly abrasive Dainese leather?

R&G do tank protectors, from the pics they seem to sit on the angled edge of the tank and are obviously designed to protect if its dropped. Not sure if these might help with it??

Its is on the lower sides of the tank, not the edges at the top. Easily sorted with some clear plastic wrap but just surprised that the marking has happened so quickly.

I have always used Stopm Grips in the past. Not just protect the tank but great grip for the legs when needed.

Once Stomp Grip have some for Ducati (if not already) and I have the bike, I will order some, no hesitation.

Paint Quality

I was debating this very thing yesterday, as I had picked up a nasty scuff from what can only have been a stone or something, during a ride yesterday.

The paint is unfortunately VERY soft, meaning that even while trying to attend to this, I introduced other scratches way to easy for my liking.

Guess you need to dust the bodywork with a clean micro fibre cloth, before doing anything to it!!!!

i always fit stomp grips or tech pads stomp grips avaiilable on ebay for the pani now

I'll be wrapping the sides up with Tank Slapper film until Techspec makes some grip pads. I've used this film with other bikes and it's good stuff - easy to apply as well.

Another thumbs up for Tankslapper protective film. I use this on my Ninja 1000. Works well and is easy to apply.

does it yellow after long exposure to sun?

The stuff on my Ninja has not yellowed in the year and 9K+ miles it has been on. Even if it did, it adheres with very very light adhesive and surface tension so it is easy to remove and leaves no residue.
