The 1199's hurting my throttle hand!

Dude... Same here!! I thought it was me....and all I have ridden (and raced) for 20 years are sport bikes. For me, I think it may be the bar angle.

+1 - I get it too. Numbness and only right hand. Doesn't seem to happen once I am where I want to go to ride since I am much more active on the bike, but the ride there just droning down the highway I always get the numb right hand.

Same here but I always had problem on the right wrist but only when I ride for 30 min or so. With the panigale is getting worst but I don't ride that much on highways and its not that bad at the end of the day.

I get the throttle hand numbness also. I went from riding an older inline 4 where I got used to gripping the nice wide tank easily. I was able to keep all weight off the bars. But, I find with the Panigale being very narrow I tend to weight the bars a lot, especially the throttle side, as I need to slide my left foot down to the shifter, I shift weight onto the throttle hand more while I move my foot. I understand this is bad. But I'm working on gripping the tank differently and consentrating on keep off the bars. I've increased "time to numbness" up to over an hour now..

I'm hoping Helibars does manufacture for the 1199 Panigale. But they don't at the moment. Only for 1198s and older is what is available from Helibars.

I barely touch my bars/grips while riding so no numbness here. I keep my bent elbows almost even or slightly above the bars to ensure no weight on the palms while riding on the streets using all core and knees. On the track/Canyons my elbows are below the clipons in the tuck position so definitely no pressure on the palms. The Pani's Clipons are longer than most bikes, the benefit is to give you more leverage while counter steering/or leaning off the bike but this can cause more pressure on the wrist while riding upright due to the wider position of the grips.

I too have acute numbness in both hands that sets in after just a short time period. I have a DP race seat, and it made no difference. Left arm is no problem to dangle and get the numbness out, it is the right - which requires releasing the throttle along with the subsequent slow down, that is problematic. What has made an incredible difference is the TuneBoy cruise control. When on the road droning, set it and you can occasionally dangle your right arm and get some blood into your fingers, and you can do this without the traffic behind you crawling up your rear fender. Too many sprawls down the asphalt at over 100 mph I guess has taken a toll, and now I get to "pay back" for the fun I had racing many years ago. Overall, it still seems like a fair deal.

+1
But not even close to the pain i suffered on the 999s or 1098s
The Panigale sit position is a little more straight up, biggest reason i bought the Panigale.
Maybe the 1299 will be perfect :D
Meanwhile, it is what it is, a superbike.

This might be a solution :

Never been a problem for me. I think a few guys on here need to lose the skirts, man up & grow a pair. Just an opinion!

I am lurking so can't relate completely, however stock seat is angled forward which is better on the gas hard but worse braking.

It tends to force your weight forward. Proper bike fit would have the front of the seat less angled forward. I feel a comfort or race seat may help because it would allow you to better support your weight with your tourso.

Sounds like an ulnar nerve problem. It runs underneath the outside of the palm underneath the pinky and ring fingers and a common issue with bicyclists as well. The easiest fix would seem to be different grips. If that doesn't work, a different bar angle that places more pressure across the palm and not just the outside portion.

Not something to take likely and can cause permanent nerve damage.

4 hour ride last weekend just made me tired in general. Palm muscles tired too as can only grip tank for so long before knees go ablaze. Strengthening the back and core will do the trick in my case, along with asbestos padding around the knees. Sorry to hear about the nerve issues, I have some in my back as well from much lifting and load bearing in my earlier years. Hernia repairs in the lower inguinal left residual pain and weakened abdominal area as well as I don't do situps much anymore. Gotta get back on a fitness plan...

My right wrist numbs up if I'm riding in a more upright position like in traffic. The numbness goes away completely once I get in a more aggressive tuck in twisties or the on the track. This just reinforces it's designed purpose of being a track bike. That said, I still find it to be very comfortable on longer rides.
