Hi Folks - thanks for the add.

By way of an introduction, I'm a 62 year old immature grumpy ex-Yorkshireman and ex-engineer, currently enjoying my third childhood. Been here in New Zealand for 44 years and yet to be found out and deported.

For the last 30 years Iv'e been a filthy insurance broker flogging life insurance and stuff as a self-employed broker. But when the 'phone is not ringing and I've sorted all my emails, I slip next door into the shed where I have a full sheetmetal and engineering shop. You can never take the welder out of the boy... Current project is a mad BMW alloy bodied race car (facebook Elan-Motorsport) which will have around 600hp in 1000kgs and look like the factory E21 Group 5 cars from the mid 70's.

In terms of motorcycling, my kids bought a lovely yellow Ducati 748SPS as an investment bike earlier in the year and as I was the only one with a bike licence, it fell to me to test ride it for them. Been away from sickles for 30 years or more and the last inhouse steed was a 1977 Bonneville. Never ridden a sportbike before and the vendor lived down a 100m long metal driveway. What could possibly go wrong?

As it turned out - nothing, feet went on the pegs, chuntered up and down the road, came back nursing a semi and the boys did the deal.

However there ensued a significant period of offspring grumpiness as I threw my leg over their yellow thing at every opportunity. The boys now had learner bikes of their own and we were having some good short rides together, but the Kays were quietly mounting up on their investment.

Enter a 2004 749s in need of some love. Spent a couple of grand tidying it up and have racked up 10,000 kms in the last 6 months learning to ride again. Absolutely the best fun I've had with my pants on for a very long time.

However with almost 50,000 kms now on the 749 and having joined a geriatric gang (Italian Motorcycle Owners Club) and doing regular decently long rides, thoughts strayed to buying a brand new bike.

Deal was done on the 959 around 6 weeks ago and I have around 3500kms on it to date. Done a few mods which I'll post separately and have yet to sort the brick hard suspension, but loving the torque and the bike in general.

Cheers, Richard

Sorry, haven't worked out what I'm doing wrong with posting pictures yet.

Haha - thanks Fens. A Panigale R in your case is non too shabby mate... And of course the 748 SPS belongs to my sons. However I concede I am a very lucky boy.

welcome to THE forum

uploading images to imgur and linking them in here is the best procedure.

You gave away your age when you attached .pdf files as photographs :D
