Thoughts on 2013 848EVO Corse SE?

I thought I was riding safe that day. Another rider cut me off, my front wheel touched there rear, I panic braked, .

sorry to hear of your mishap, Godspeed. were you by chance on the track when it happened?

Friend is looking at bikes and really liked the 848. I was wondering what other owners thought about their experiences with it? I don't want to recommend a bike that is as troublesome as my Pani to a newer rider.

I hate the cheesy Red Frame, reminds me of roll bars on a go cart...

Yes I was at a track day and came off at about 125. I blame myself, completely preventable. Thankfully I have recovered and am able to do track days again although admittedly I don't ride anywhere as aggressive as before.

The SE is great bike I am sure your friend will enjoy it. I wouldn't recommend it as a bike to learn on, but I don't wish an accident, the pain, or medical bills on anyone - so I hope he rides safely and at least completes MSF before he starts riding it. Good luck to him and welcome to the Ducati family.

Guys I had ordered the 2013 848 Evo SP.. Had to wait till May this year till I could get my hands on it.

Worked out that getting the 848 Evo then adding termi's on it took me to $1k off the base model Panigale. Shop had a Panigale on the floor ready to go. To be honest it was a no brainer really going for the Panigale for just that little bit extra.

Depends on what you are after really. The 848 is an awesome machine but due for a replacement. So if you are happy buying it new and knowing that there will be a new shape out by 2014 then go for it.

I think he's getting a good bike to start on. If he's mature enough and willing to practice with you as a mentor; he will rapidly gain confidence and experience. No one has a right to say any starting point is the wrong one. Your friend will either excel in his learning curve or languish, but he should be the one, with your guidance, to explore his own limitations.

Kudos to you for being a good friend and advisor. I am sure he will do fine.

Thanks man, I appreciate some confidence. The bike is actually in the trailer behind us as we're starting our drive back home. He's like a little school girl, also convinced him to at least buy pegs because the stock ones are so slippery. I know I slipped off my 1199 once before I replaced them...

The bike looks great, but why spend money on something when you know that a new model is just around the corner? I've had the pleasure of owning an 848 and it is a joy to ride. But buying one brand new is not something I would recomend a friend. might as well buy a pre owned at a great price. then sell it after a year for almost the same price he acquired it

Probably if u buy a new model there are bound to have faults that needed updates, probably safer with the old model where everything is ironed out.

Anyway its a real beauty too!
