Does anyone know if winglets can be removed i cannot buy this and pimp it out with those wings :(

I own one of best looking 1199 R.Man saw mybike i posted it on this forum.
Having an R is all you need no matter where you drive it,it is owning one and enjoying it.I have 1500km on mine i drive when i want when i feel like it,i know its waiting in a garage :)

Plus i take it for a spin around then i put it on stands polish it with fine cloth and best Nxt 2.0 wax, then i just sit by it while led lights light on it,on one grey epoxy ground like in superbike hangars and just enjoy the moment.I admire it in every way possible.

It is not all about the track at least for me and now when i buy new one i will post pictures of what i did to it hwo i pimped it out.

Wings on a street bike make as much sense as having an "R" as a street bike.

Let's be honest, it's a race bike first and foremost

Really name one who would not wanna have this

Like i said having one for your own joy is all the person need wheter it is to use it for street,or track or whatever. Me having it cleaning it just looking at it makes me happy and correct me if i am wrong but i think most if not all will agree having a bike is to make you free and happy and joyfull.
If i could i would have one in middle of my living room just spining around watching it??!!! Why? cause it brings a smile to my face and makes me happy everytime i look at it

THEY MUST BE DETTACHED OR SOMETHING OR I WILL GO NUTS IF I HAVE TO HAVE THEM ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Imagine i put my old 1199R TAMBURINI gold wheels, smoked smaller screen, licenceplate holder with led taillights integrated in rear lights, black footrest, full akrapovic and then those winglets like mustache not gonna happen.

Plus i bet 1% people in entire forum might need them and even that is debatable. They made it for track so was 1199R and other R and multiple ppl are street driving them, more like i think 80% are on street and maybe max of 20% on a track or its even 90-10%

Totally agree... my comment was directed at the original post asking "why have winglets on a street bike" My point is that they aren't there for street riding, they are there for WSBK rules.

If I had the extra cash laying around I would buy a couple of new V4Rs

...

60 lbs of downforce on the front end at 160 should be noticeable. Whether most owners will be able to turn that into a real performance benefit is a different question.

...

Absolutely. Surely 30kgs of downforce at 270kmh+ will provide some noticeable stability. I'm not a huge trackday person, but I'd happily take some helpful downforce down the Sepang front straight at well over 270kmh. I have no doubt the winglets will be more functional for my riding than the Ducati Slide Control.

Arguments about aesthetics will go around in circles. Some like the engineering and GP-drived aeros, some don't because it looks odd or funny. I'm glad Ducati put them on the V4R. This bike is meant to be a race expression of the Panigale V4. There are other models available if aesthetics are the main concern.

I didn't like the look of the V4 originally, although it has grown on me, due to it's comparable bulk over the last gen Panigale. A nose on shot of this bike just looks massive, wings or not.

I'd imagine the R either comes with or will have blanks for removing the wings as an offered accessory. It makes no sense to have the wings on the street other than looking cool. However, it leaves your bike extremely prone to people walking past/between it and catching themselves on the winglet, breaking it or possibly knocking the bike over. The smart thing would be to take them off for the street and throw them back on for the track.

Your last points make so much sense even for those that ride balls out often on the streets (250+km/h) and may benefit from the added downforce on the front end even on the streets.

In fact, what you just described would make my heart stop if I were that owner and find that V4R so messed up.

But back on topic, from what I personally saw at EICMA there is no easy way of removing them if any! There are no screws from the underside, and not any signs of places reserved for snap in place. So if they can be removed they probably can be from the inside of the fairing. I tried to reach with my hand but I couldn't either reach or simply didn't feel any screw from inside the fairing.

Wings on a street bike make as much sense as having an “R” as a street bike.

Let’s be honest, it’s a race bike first and foremost
I tend to agree but it's a race bike designed as a road legal bike. IMHO if we judge by that standards then all V4s and even supersport V2s make no sense on the streets.

A monster or hypermotard would make so much more sense for a street bike.

Having said that it's easy to broadly paint things in black or white and forget that even then wings on a street bike make almost just as much sense on the street than on the track because the SAME laws of physics apply on both instances, UNLESS you always abide the speed restriction laws, which in that case yes, the aero benefit is lost.

Notice or be able to use to their advantage?

60 lbs of downforce on the front end at 160 should be noticeable. Whether most owners will be able to turn that into a real performance benefit is a different question.

I want to see under the fairings. I imagine that those winglets need to be bolted to some sort of structure and can't just be molded plastic.

My guess exactly! At EICMA I tried to make sense if they can be easily removed or not or if they can be removed at all. Without seeing the inside of the fairing we can never know. It certainly won't be so easy to remove (if at all) like the license plate holder, so I guess it won't be just a quickie when you hit the track.

....ok....so riddle me this:

is there anyone that says they do, or do not, notice the difference in 1 or 2 clicks of their ohlins suspension ?

marketing and sales aside, (which is a huge deal for any company...after all, they do need to stay profitable)....is the fear of something new that offensive that the winglets are meaningless ? if they aren't fully functional for the masses does that negate their function, or just make them 1 more item that isn't fully exploited or made use of.....as if this reality is something new ?

...or how about this...what happens when you pop your head out of the bubble going down the straight....?

Physics happens and I'd argue that the winglets have almost the same role on the street as on the track (assuming you don't respect speed law limitations).

Pimp it out? You know....beauty is such a subjective term.

They can be removed. It was confirmed to me by someone inside Ducati.

If they can, it won't be an easy remove. From the outside there is no apparent way to do it, so only by taking the faring off.

....exactly - lets trade the brake lever guard and carbon heel plates for a set of these winglets :)

It's actually very easy. There are bolts from the back side of the fairing. The question that no one has told me is that what do they give you to fill what's left to be exposed on the outside; is it a block off plate or some other screw hole fill ins, etc?

It would be so fun to show up to starbucks with them carbon fibre wings on my R i'd tell all the squids it holds the bike down at above 150 from wheelieing and allows me to go 45 mph faster in the turns.

I'd of course have to mount led's on them LMAO

funny as it is imagine tomorrows bikes will have computer controlled ailerons on its winglets .

Is that the drive up a Starbucks lol. I think they look good but opinions.

I would think that Ducati would have a $200 carbon option to cover the holes left when removed. Crazy as it sounds for those of you that have been around Ducati long enough know it is just the way it works.

Hmmmmmm based on pictures its going to be tough to remove.

But if they are smart they will make like a cover like the first carbon on the winglet thats screwed in it would look amazing.

I think everyone agrees with me third picture when you look from bottom just a surgical cut so its carbon that only fills the gap.

AndreiD thnx for sharing such good pictures at least we are closer to removing them :))))

Only thing i dont see is screws from the inside but from a side they are screwed onto a middle plastic so basically middle plastic goes down along with the winglets. In my opinion one screw has to be from the inside into the winglet and the screws might be above the front fender. I hope someone will confirm soon whats it gonna be replacing the gap.

If they smart just make carbon slips to replace the hole there even for a 100e why not it would look amazing like carbon stripes

Hey man, send them my way if you don't want them.
I am sure they will contribute to the bike's stability at the end of a long straight.
