Thoughts On Winglets?

It would be so fun to show up to starbucks with them carbon fibre wings on my R i'd tell all the squids it holds the bike down at above 150 from wheelieing and allows me to go 45 mph faster in the turns.

I'd of course have to mount led's on them LMAO

funny as it is imagine tomorrows bikes will have computer controlled ailerons on its winglets .

I bet you can rest a large Pumpkin Spice Mochachino or whatever on them while the bike is parked. In fact, I think that was a design consideration when they were figuring out dimensions.

...so i guess we need to get:

- swimmers to remove their caps in competition

- bicyclists to get rid of the spandex suits (thank god)

- bicyclists to stop shaving their legs -- LOL's !!

- get downhill skiers to go back to wearing snorkel parkas

- get the fairings off of sport bikes & call Craig Vetter back for some ideas

.....yeah....so, aerodynamics means zilch these days :)

It's actually very easy. There are bolts from the back side of the fairing. The question that no one has told me is that what do they give you to fill what's left to be exposed on the outside; is it a block off plate or some other screw hole fill ins, etc?

Fair question but I don't see it as that easy especially if you do it multiple times a year. For example let's say you track your bike twice a month and for the sake of argument like for 6 month per year. That will be 12 times you have to remove fairings and get them on and 12 times to get them off assuming you road ride the bike too. So that's a 24 time removal of both side fairings each season.

Unless your brave enough to leave them on and pray they either don't catch anyone's attention or nobody latches on to them unintentionally, braking them or worse, tipping the bike over. In that case it's only 12 times per year.

That's a point I hadn't thought of. I figured you either would leave them on or you would leave them off; not that you would be putting them on for track days and off for the rest.

I would just as soon take them off and put them in a box and never put them on again.

For those that have walked too close to their bike and inadvertently ripped their mirror off, I can only imagine the mayhem that will ensue with these little carbon encumbrances.
