For those of you who change and balance your own tires, what tire balancer do you use that will work with the rear tire (single sided swing-arm bias)?
I currently have a tire balancer that I use on my honda, however, the cones do not fit the rear tire of the duc. I have been looking for adapter cones (sold separately from balancer) but have not had much luck. Any suggestions?

I bought a nomar tire changer package, it comes with a balancer that has a set of cones for use on single sided swingarms. I see they sell it separately as well:

Wheel Balancers

about halfway down the page. WOrks very well.

I've been using balancers from Marc Parnes for years; good guy to work with, makes quality stuff. Just needed some more cones for the Duc.

THis is a nice piece of gear. I do wish they'd make it in a cone configuration , otherwise you have to buy multiple balancers if you've got bike with different axles.

-- i just received mine.....nicely machined - art work for the tool box - the cones in the picture do single sided rear and front "1 cone does it all" - nice job !

built this one:

2 aluminum angles, 4 screws, 4 bearings and a 20 mm bar. had the stand from the previous bike. use a spirit level for the right setup.

Yup, was going to add that it would do both ends. I already had a standard cone-type one for doing "normal" wheels, so all I needed was the new Ducati-specific cones for the SSA rear wheel. Parnes sells all the parts for the things so you can mix-n-match as your collection evolves!

I don't see why you need the ducati balancer, the cone in two different sizes (like phil's) or Nomars will do all the wheels on all the bikes I've changed tires on.

Just his way of doing it I suppose; can't speak to whether it's any better than other alternatives since it's the only one I've used for years. Sample size = 1. ;) Parnes does a lot of different setups for various bikes with SSA's and unusual rear wheels - Aprilia's, MV's, Triumphs, VFR's. Since I already had one of his setups with smaller cones for normal front/rear wheels, I just emailed and asked for whatever cones were needed for a Pani and that was the one.

I decided to order a balancer from Marc Parnes. Let me say that I am more than impressed! The quality of the product is excellent and the fitment is spot on. It arrived at my door two days after I ordered it... talk about a quick turn around. Would highly recommend this balancer, especially at a price of 115 (shipped).
