Shakespeare had no idea what cerebral dilemmas laid in wait for us that continue to hustle this mortal coil at blistering speeds through the chicanes of life. Ok, enough of my horseshit.
My question:
Please tell me why I shouldn't trade my 1 year old 1299s in for a v4s. Bear in mind, it is a track only bike. So track heads, is it THAT much better???
From a pure power perspective, it is definitely a step ahead. From a rideability standpoint, it is much smoother overall. It's deceivingly quick. It doesn't invoke that feeling of wrestling a tiger like the 1299 did, but that could be a positive or negative, depending on what your preference is.
Handling is pretty comparable, as the 1299 is pretty light and nimble. Now if you compare handling to something like a S1k, it feels much better and more nimble, imho. The brakes seem to be much better than the stockers on the 1299, if you haven't switched out the brake master. If you have, then they are about the same.
Although a bit harder to decipher, the electronics do feel a bit better. The configuration interface is waaaaaay better than the 1299 and should be the high bar for other manf. The up/down QS is sublime compared to the 1299. It is so buttery smooth and the downshifts feel MotoGP 'esqe. (I haven't had any QS problems *knock on wood*, but I've read on here about others).
The things that irritate me.. no DDA yet available to me (though I've heard of others that have it already). Exhaust/fuel management options limited to basically Akra only at this time. Clutch is still mildly annoying even after the recall (better but still not great). If your pushing it hard on track and run in places with heat comparable to TX, you MUST get the radiator update completed (mine has overheated).
For reference, I've got a 2016 1299s and of course, the V4s. Both completely tracked out. I've also spun some laps on the SL, HP4, R1M etc. I've got a decent baseline of reference points to compare with.
