Commute 40k each way on my v4s , rain and shine , 20k nice country roads rest dual carriageway filtering, bus lanes and into the city. Hot yes even on country roads unless you are doing 120kph+ it gets to three bars. City 3 bars and fans going and I notice it but its Ireland so most days I dont really mind it. The biggest pain is keeping it looking clean as I live in RURAL Ireland the roads are filthy and bike is covered in mud and road grit when I get home. Should I get a GS or Multi hell yes , have I had them yes...but I still had to have the v4 and would I go back...no but if I had the cash I would get another bike for crappy days and keep the pani nice and clean and enjoy a filthy GS. Oh and agree on the cops thing, haven't been stopped at any of the covid road blocks just get waved through.

Added Attack Rear-Sets to mine and I can do all day now. Wish I had a bigger tank as I can ride more than the 134 miles the current bikes volume allows.

The right kind of riding pants (not regular jeans) will help on the hot days. I have a 1299 FE R and the V4 is better. I like the V4 so much that I wouldn't let the heat keep me from owning one. You might wait and consider the V4 Streetfighter which has better heat management.

Commuting on a sport bike

So many better options

Who cares what it looks like?

My ego might tell me it matters - it’s not real tho. My ego is not my amigo : )

Multi is great commuter bike - Wheelies good too

Hello All!

In the first paragraph I will discuss my current situation and in the second paragraph I will have some more specific questions. Whichever you feel like reading/responding to is great! I’m open ears and want to know just about everything anyone has to offer.

I currently own a new 2020 Panigale V2. It has 2800 miles (in 3 months) on it. I mainly ride on the road but I do about 2-3 track days a year. I am wanting to put an akrapovic slip-on on it but the slip-on cost roughly $4000. My local dealer has a used 2018 V4s with 2,000 miles and has a full akrapovic and a bunch of aesthetic modifications (carbon fiber and more!). The salesman that sold me my V2 offered me this V4 for my V2 and $4000. Instead of buying the akrapovic slip-on, why should I not trade this in? This seems like a deal of a lifetime and I would like to do it, I just need to know if I should or shouldn’t?

Some questions I have are:
Is a V4s a good main bike? I will only have this.
What are some common problems with the V4s?
What are the pros and cons of the V4s?
What do you like about your V4s?

Thank you guys so much in advance for anything and I’d love suggestions and to hear everyone’s opinion!

I’ve ridden every Ducati superbike I’ve owned as much as I could. Get the comfort seat, as this will provide a more comfortable position. Other than that you’re looking at a street legalized race bike, so it just comes down to WANTING to be on the Ducati. I’d personally get the V4. Good luck.

I've got a 2018 V4S, I divid my time with track days and short commutes. Francesca doesn't mind street rides or track days. I've got spare rims and bodywork just for the track. Yes she's hot in the spring and summer but I've got JoeRocket riding jeans with Kevlar to help keep the heat from the engine away. As a street bike I've ridden far worse (like my 88 FZR1000 I miss her). I use my legs and abs to support me during the ride. I turn the quick shifter off for the street.
If you decide on the V4 makes sure all the recalls and technical service bulletins are up to date and completed. I think I had close to 15 recalls and TSBs completed.
My only true complaint are the mirrors. They should have a folding feature. Blame all the owners for not demanding it over the years. For the cost of the bike folding mirrors should be standard. The stock ones are a joke. They're weak. I broke one when I hit it with my hand. I do not like bar end mirrors, the stock fit the bike well they're just crappy.
I could complain about the clutch, but what do you want it's not cable actuated and the feel changes throughout the ride. I've learned to get used to it.

15 recalls in 2.5 years and only complaint is the mirrors?

You are a better man than I...

My 2019 V4S is my daily bike. Heat on the V4S is bearable. Hot...yes, but not so uncomfortable to the point where it is a pain to ride. I plan on upgrading to the akra full exhaust and plan on adding carbon heat shielding to help with that issue but in stock form it is fine in my opinion. I lived in San Diego and rode year round. No major issues with the heat, although it is legal to lane split in Cali so I didn't deal to much with sitting in traffic. Only thing I can think of that may be a deciding factor is the maintenance intervals and costs since you ride on the track often. Not sure how often the service is on the V2 and what the price for that service is so you will need to do a little research. Overall I love the bike and would def recommend it. Hope this helps you or anyone else looking into a V4S.

My previous bike was a 2016 yamaha R6 for upgrade comparison
