899? geesh, I can barely keep up with buddies on their modded liter bikes as it is.On so many occasions I thought to myself: I love the power of this 1199 but a little more won't hurt

I'm a believer that you can never have too much power provided you have the experience to handle it.

if they have all the features of an 1199s on the 899, I would totally go for the smaller cc bike. I for one definitely don't need all the power on the 1199, scares the .... of out me at full throttle, but that's also part of the fun.

My 1299 makes me do terrible wonderful things. I loved the 1199 when I test drove one, much more entertaining than the 899. It feels similar to my 1299 but more pissed off and like it wants to kill you all the time. 1199 is an awesome bike for sure.

Your bike is fast enough to win Expert races right out of the box. If your buddies are beating you, they are better riders. Do some track days and work on your skills, it won't be long until your buddies won't even be able to keep you in sight.

I drove a buddies Zx14R for a few miles on our Sunday morning 120 mile round trip fast pace cruise up U.S.27(very few curves) and was not impressed.My theory:Once you get used to a Ducati or any VTwin its almost impossible to go back to Inline 4's(except maybe MV) I love the Character of my Pani as The Zx14 had none! I am sacrificing comfort but have a blast riding this thing.My buddy has an H2 which is butt ugly but has great ergos, wider fairing and is perfect for our straight roads here.

I think if you find a road with more than 2 turns, you'll woop your buddy's ZX14R and H2.

Coming from 3 years of each. 848-1199.

I'm so glad I ditched the 848, best move I made.

I would say getting the S with better suspension was the key. Both bikes are similar under a 100mph.

Once you get into 3rd however, the 1199 pulls away a little quicker. Not always useful on the street, but there are times we use the crap out of that area.
